Regarding my Florida post earlier, don't get too caught up on the Gators specifically, I was meaning more in a metaphorical sense and just using UF since that was the team in the current discussion. But it could apply to other teams with scrapped games or a bunch of non-considered FCS wins.

Tj, I'm assuming that you're a Duck fan based on your avatar, but I've enjoyed some of the OSU shirts I've been seeing around Corvallis and Eugene: "Shut The Duck Up."

Tough start for Wazzu this year. Lost to Rutgers at home last week and will fall to Nevada tonight. Nevada-Arizona looks like an intriguing game next week. I wonder if it will be like the New Mexico Bowl 2 years ago.

The Mike Leach/Texas Tech 12-1 season was not even an outlier. It was well beyond an outlier. You can have success with that style of offense, but you cannot have success with HIM.

At Tech, Leach's Big XII record has a lot of wins against KU, IA State, and the Ron Prince era in Manhattan. Plus, his non-conference is loaded up with 11 combined wins against SMU and New Mexico and a load of FCS wins.

Wazzu is stuck with him through 2018-19 and for those Miami (FL) fans angry at Al Golden being hired, Leach and his disregard for defense would have made the current lack of push from the DL even worse.

Not only that, but that 12-1 season had a lot more to do with having Michael Crabtree as their main target than Mike Leach being anything close to a good coach. He hasn't put up nearly the same kind of numbers with the 49ers, but that dude was probably the best receiver in the country that year.

Crabtree was the first two-time, Biletnikoff Award winner, but the best collegiate WRs, regardless of a trophy, are are able to perform as highly at the next level.

The same can be said for the Doak Walker winners (RB), Davey O'Brien winners (QB), Outland (linemen).

Excelling at a higher lever should not dismiss one's prior performance, but as the old financial disclaimer says...

Past Performance Is Not Necessarily Indicative of Future Results

Back to Saturday, Charlie Strong had his EIGHTH player this season leave the program via dismissal or voluntary leave on Friday in Deoundrei Davis. Mack Brown used to get 5* junior commits. Strong is cleaning house and letting the Texas Ex that he is doing so a player at a time.

As for QB David Ash, his parents need to tell him that it's over. If not them, some parental force needs to.

I'll never forget that game-winning, rip-the-ball-away, tip-toe-the-sideline catch to knock off #1 Texas in Lubbock.

Hoo boy.

I think he still has the potential to be a great NFL wideout, as long as he can stay healthy. That's been the source of a lot of his drop off at the next level.

Florida Atlantic might just be the worst team in the country this year.

A little misconceiving since they're playing arguably the best team in the country.

Meanwhile in the Missouri-Toledo game the announcers are a little too obsessed with "the clap" :D

The look on Mack Brown and Chris Simms faces almost made me like Tech.

Almost.

Was going to go say they could beat one of the upstarts on the Sun Belt, but forgot they're in the rotunda that is Conference USA now. As far as worst team in the country go to the College Football thread in the sports logos form and check out College of Faith. -124 total offense with -100 yards rushing... wow. Apparently they aren't even associated with either the NCAA, NAIA, or even USCAA.

Online "for-profits" that are quite probably wirefraud scams really shouldn't be considered (because it would be too unfair). My very, very weak standards for consideration are "your school needs to have a wikipedia page".

Florida Atlantic might just be the worst team in the country this year.

Let's see...

Pay the Motor City Bowl for your appearance to make your 2nd bowl in your school's history- CHECK

Hire Carl Pelini- CHECK

Hire an AD from a Power 5 school, but was just a PR guy for a while until moving into just fundraising, there has little management and people skills- CHECK

Said AD agrees to a stadium naming rights deal with a For Profit prison company then realizes that is a poor idea- CHECK

Said AD fires Carl Pelini over drug usage, then change your story to lack of supervision of staff, when you cannot prove drug usage- CHECK

Not to mention their bevy of spare basketball coaches: Sidney Green, Matt Doherty , Rex Walters, Mike Jarvis and now Michael Curry.

Yea, you summed it up well.

I was so excited that Nebraska just scored the game winning touchdown against McNeese State. But then I realized they had to score a game winning touchdown to beat McNeese state. It's one of the weirdest feelings ever when you're jumping up and down in excitement while you're disappointed.

i have unquantifiable corpses on my conscience

If Stanford keeps coming up short on their scoring opportunities they're going to let USC steal this game.

Well, Sark was/is losing his mind on the sidelines and got a sideline warning, plus unsportsmanlike conduct. Then USC #10 targeting late hit out of bounds. Then Stanford fumbles ball, USC recovers. Wow. Crazy five minutes.

Yeah, why was Washington ranked? They've beaten Hawaii and Eastern Washington by a combined 8 points, and gave up 52 today. I'll be surprised if they make a bowl game knowing how deep the PAC-12 is this year.

EDIT: Oh my Stanford.
