The bright side is that a new president will come in for next year. Hopefully he or she takes no ish, and fires Golden, then hires Butch Davis back. He's made it clear that he would come back to Miami if the job was open. That would surely revive the program right there.

Sure. Because by hiring a then 64 year-old man, who has a legacy of having John Blake on his UNC staff plus the UNC scandal is appropriate. I like Butch, but he is essentially a show-cause in waiting. If you go that old, hire someone who is a better recruit "closer"...college football's nicest man....63 year old Mack Brown.

Sorry, 'Griffinmarlins', you don't understand. You really like Miami Football, but you basically have only been alive since when Ken Dorsey was QB...you REALLY have a lot to learn.

While a new president will bring stability, there will be another AD within the next 30 months since Blake James will look to move up.

Again, regardless of who is hired, most likely they will not be as a good total fundraiser as Dr. Shalala.

Yeah you're right. I'm a super fan, but haven't really experienced the glory days. I'm just so sick of hearing of all these successful teams, but never getting to see one in my time watching college football. I want to see the Canes succeed, because it can be done. I'm just impatient y'know. I want to see a winning product because I love my team.

You are not a superfan since you have no idea of their history. You just like titles.

The times have changes and there was even a limited scholarship period under Al Golden. If you "loved" the team, then you would've realized that historically nobody cares in terms of attendance, which drives the athletic department.

I owned season tickets from 2000-2005 and neither live in Miami nor attended the university, I just grew up in Tampa and liked them more than FSU and UF. However, I still look at football at the bigger level than you .

Seriously? Don't say I don't know their history, cause I could tell you a lot about their history if you wanted me to.

And you can't say no one cared. They used to sell out the Orange Bowl.

Trust me, I may be young, but I know a lot of stuff about my favorite team other than titles. I've watched the documentaries, seen stuff on YouTube, read articles, heard stories from family. I'm a true Hurricanes fan, and won't have another team come close to taking the spot for my top college team no matter where I attend school.

What came to you to think that he just likes titles even though he posts every week in this thread lamenting for Al Golden to be fired. Is he not allowed to rag on his team? The "fan" he is that you're describing would only come out and support Miami when they're winning titles.

What's wring with a fan liking it when his team wins a title?

Seriously, get off your podium and stop acting like you're a "better" fan than everyone else.

I was AT the home game against Tennessee in 2003 when the streak was broken, it was far from sold out and they were a 1-loss team then.

The OB was only sold out every other season when FSU came in.

Their other biggest crowd were during the first game of the year when FAMU was there was a VaTech game or possibly WVU. Dude in 2003, I was at the Thursday Night WVU game when Quincy Wilson made his YouTube play (Friday afternoon was when the Marlins beat SF when JT Snow was thrown out at the plate).

Orange Bowl or SunLife...not enough people go to the games; thus, Miami has no $$$ to actually pay for coaches/staff to actually stay.

Well, this pretty much reaffirms what I've felt all along. Jed York is the dumbest owner in the NFL. I can't believe they actually pushed him out of San Francisco with a year left on his contract. This is probably one of the worst coaching moves I've ever seen an NFL team make.

I know we have a TON of Buckeyes and Spartans on the board... How are you guys feeling about this?

I'll be honest, I was scared :censored: when OSU hired Urban Meyer 3 years ago. It felt like a home run, can't fail hire at the time and so far my fears have been confirmed. I can't help but feel that same way about the Harbaugh hire, only with the shoe on the other foot.

Harbaugh/Meyer and Harbaugh/Dantonio will certainly be fun over the next few years.

He had hard-nosed, talented players playing hard, grinding football in the PAC-12. I imagine he can do the same or better with those big-bodied Midwesterners.

If Harbaugh coaches like he did with the 49ers and has Brady Hoke's recruiting ability, everybody in the Big Ten should be scared.

I think more of college football will be scared of the Big Ten. Minnesota is a program on the rise, Wisconsin will be iffy next year, Nebraska could be good, MSU and OSU will again be powerhouses, Penn State is a young team under Franklin's first year, and now Michigan has Harbaugh.

So, one of the A&M coaches (a grad. assist.) just went full-Woody Hayes and started throwin' punches at WVU players.

The Big Ten needed a revival. Michigan being good will really help that conference.

Imagine a year in the near future where the best four teams are Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, and another SEC team- that would get the playoff expanded in a heartbeat.

Agreed. As a fan of a school in the other division, this is fine by me. A strong Michigan helps the entire conference. Right now we are floundering and before the Wisconsins, Iowas, Minnesotas and Michigan States can be forces, we need some strength at the top beyond just OSU running away with a weak conference every year.

And no one seemed to notice... wow.

A&M did, and that guy is sitting in the locker room for the 2nd half.

In each of his four 49ers seasons, his teams settled for FGs far too often and were bottom 25% in Red Zone efficiency. In college, he won't have the luxury of the accuracy of David Akers or Phil Dawson.
