Whitefoot
I'm working on a badge concept for a soccer supporters club in Las Vegas. I need some feedback on the design. The inspiration was the famous "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada" sign, but I didn't want it to mimic the actual sign like so many other logos do. The colors and sash come from the flag of the City of Las Vegas. Also, I love the idea of a double shield in one badge as used in the Seattle Sounders FC badge. I would also like to incorporate some other aspects of the Seal of the City of Las Vegas (Hoover Dam, Sunrise, etc.), but it might just make it too busy. Font ideas (I want a timeless font)? Most importantly I did not want to add any design details that were casino/gambling related.
TShaw528
There's a little to much grey, and I'm not crazy about the Letter's font. But other than that I like it a lot
Dan O'Mac
Instead of "LV NV", I'd go with "LV SC". I like this.
jaker52
It doesn't say VEGAS to me. I would change up colors and use a less Italian look. I know you used the flag but that doesn't capture the life of the city. I would use a slightly mexican mostly American looking badge with some bright colors. The sign was one good piece of info to use but you don't really convert that here to a euro soccer badge. That only makes sense when you have a city with that influence. Las Vegas has Native American, Mexican, and American influence. You should also be able too look at a badge with the words all taken off and have a decent guess at what area they represent. Here I would say Vatican City or Rome. Color scheme here means everything. MUNCHEN LOWEN (WAFA) GULF SHORES OSPREYS (IBL)
Whitefoot
Here's my first update. I added a Hoover Dam detail and changed the font. If anyone has the name of a good font to try out, please list it. I may toy with the color scheme. The LV 51s also use the Blue/Silver/Black, but the LV Wranglers, LV Mobsters, and UNLV all use Scarlet/Grey/Black. Please keep up the great suggestions (please keep in mind that to locals Vegas is more that just the Strip).
JCRGraphix
I like the idea of the dam, however those lines are very small and wouldn't be able to be embroidered
jaker52
It says Nevada for sure but Vegas is a very different thing. MUNCHEN LOWEN (WAFA) GULF SHORES OSPREYS (IBL)
Whittier S
What if you turned the "Welcome to Vegas" component around so it's more readily recognisable? It would change up the negative space and you'd have to shift some other things around, but I think it would help the identity. That said, I do like the idea of incorporating Hoover Dam into the badge, very clever. ย ย
davidmiller5
If you are trying to evoke the famous sign, you can't take its shape and rotate it 90ยบ. I first looked at your designs before reading your inspirations, and I would have never guessed you were wanting to evoke the sign.
Whitefoot
Another Update:I made some changes to the original concept (it seems a little busy now) and came up with a second concept (kept it simple). The badges are for a soccer supporter club made up of citizens from across the Las Vegas Valley (3 cities - Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas). The concept is not meant to represent the craziness of the LV Strip, but the soccer supporters who live around the valley. The new Battle Born Stars and Stripes represent the 3 cities of the LV Valley, and the White, Silver, & Blue stripes at the bottom of the Hoover Dam shield are a nod to the Las Vegas Quicksilvers.Since I felt the original concept became too busy, I came up with a simplified new concept. I incorporated the symbolism of the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada" sign, the Battle Born star from the state flag, the sash and colors of the city flag, and 3 stripes to represent the 3 cities of the Las Vegas Valley. I also threw in a splash of Rebel Scarlet as a way to show support for our UNLV Rebel soccer teams. What do you think?
Jake88
What if you put "LV SC" on the sash, its really empty there. Other than that it looks niceEDIT: I'm talking about the second version by the way
JCRGraphix
That's definitely a step in the right direction. You might consider darkening your blue a bit as there's some vibration going on right now with the red.
