cmm
I'm probably in the minority, but I hate the Isles' old black thirds less than I hate these new ones. Yuck.

Morgan33
This is almost as bad as the last alternate from a couple years back. The striping is practically invisible, the numbers are bland, the collar is laughable, and the orange in the logo sticks out like sore thumb. Just a poor effort overall. It makes the mediocre, Brooklyn nets branding seem like a stroke of genius by comparison.
KittSmith_95
If I had my way I'd do this with the Sharks logo:That's very close to perfection.... just make the triangle longer in width. habsfan1
Now that I've seen the full uniform on a player, is it okay if I think they're incredibly sharp?
GFB
I actually really like those Islanders uniforms... In fact, the only thing actually irritating me about them (getting past the whole "team colors" thing) is that they only went 95% of the way in with the black/white scheme and kept some orange and blue in the designs at all. If you decide that's the direction you want to go, just go all the way with it.
Cosmic
Agreed. The previous one was ill-conceived and terribly executed. This may still be ill-conceived, but the design itself is really strong.Just in case anyone wants to check it out/avoid it:Below is the full schedule for when the Islanders will wear the third jersey:Tuesday, Nov. 3 vs. New Jersey DevilsFriday, Nov. 20 vs. Montreal CanadiensFriday, Dec. 4 vs. St. Louis BluesTuesday, Dec. 15 vs. Florida PanthersTuesday, Jan. 12 vs. Columbus Blue JacketsThursday, Jan. 14 vs. New York RangersSunday, Jan. 17 vs. Vancouver CanucksSaturday, Jan. 23 vs. Philadelphia FlyersTuesday, Feb. 2 vs. Minnesota WildTuesday, Mar. 8 vs. Pittsburgh PenguinsTuesday, Mar. 29 vs. Carolina HurricanesSaturday, Apr. 9 vs. Buffalo SabresMy oldest has been asking if we can go, since they're now "our" team - I think I'll take him to a classic blue and orange for his first-ever hockey game.C'mon, you don't want to take him to see that black/white vs. black/white/khaki Isles-Pens game? Frylock
I'm not really digging the Nike-inspired toilet seat collar, but the side tabs are a nice touch. Can't see them past several feet, but, ya know...

Hard to put a finger on it. And the elongated triangle doesn't work for me. Good job though. I'm Danny fkn Heatley, I play for myself. That's what fkn all stars do. tp49
Thankfully the Isles won't be wearing that crap alternate to the one home game I'm able to make this year. Let's call this what it is trying to capitalize on the popularity of the Nets color scheme which is capitalizing on the LA Kings and the Raiders past merchandise sales success. I expected nothing less from Wang and Yormark. Last time I checked Brooklyn's municipal colors are blue and gold (or since they've been a part of NYC since 1898 blue and orange) not black and white, and I lived in Brooklyn until my family moved to the Island. Leave the black and white in LA with the Kings the Isles are and should always be royal blue and orange.

Very cool. What a weird, random element. A logo for the tag on the side of your jersey. Unless there are problems with the replicas ripping there...why?Or better yet, were those shoulder patches before Al Arbour passed away, at which point they found a way to reconfigure them? The most random thing is that it reminds me of the elevators from Return of the Jedi I'll respect any opinion that you can defend. But black and white has been a common color scheme since industrial-cool first became a thing, which means going back to the 90s at least, and since the Nets adopted them it's been the borough's official unofficial colors. The Nets rode the trend, they didn't start it. I have absolutely no problem with a Brooklyn-based team using black and white. And if that uniform was for a brand-new expansion franchise it'd be near the top of the league. My only issue is that the Islanders already have a color scheme of their own. Chewbacca
I'm not really digging the Nike-inspired toilet seat collar, but the side tabs are a nice touch. Can't see them past several feet, but, ya know...I do not like this jersey at all. To me, this is not the New York Islanders. Even with their last black jersey, as bad as it was, at least you knew it was an Islanders jersey. With this, this looks like a Brooklyn NHL team, rather than the classic Islanders. Yeah, I get that that was the purpose behind this jersey but I feel that this has nothing similar to the Islanders identity at all, besides the logo. This to me reminds me of Tampa's alternate, where it is so boring and dull. It looks like a practice jersey if anything. Where's the blue and orange on the jersey? That 'B' on the sides, when it comes to hockey, that screams Boston to me, not Brooklyn. How about that collar? It reaks of Nike and it looks like a toilet seat. The only things I like are the wordmark on the helmet and the Al Arbour tribute patch.
AnPheitseog
this is the French national rugby jersey. If something like this is the extent of the three stripes we would see on a NHL jersey, then im okay with it. Formerly known as DiePerske
Kevin W.
And I think we'll see something similar to the NBA: no three stripes for the on-ice jerseys, but they'll be there on the practice jerseys. If anything, we're just going to see a replacement of the Reebok logo with the Adidas logo. We might see a new template, though. Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions) King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)
FiddySicks
Bklyn? Really? What happened to spelling words completely? It's a common abbreviation. You see it everywhere. And I mean everywhere. That seems like quite a silly "abbreviation" for a word like Brooklyn. What did Roo ever do to piss people off so much? The logo and that is it.The NHL is not European soccer where they change looks every season. There is a traditional look to most teams that I can't see their Owners changing... M4One
Outside of the 3 stripes showing up on practice jerseys, I think people's fear of the stripes showing up on the jerseys is for nothing. Did they appear on any of the regular NBA jerseys? No. Even on those ugly sleeved jerseys, where Adidas could have easily shoehorned the stripes, but didn't.As for the Sharks logo, I saw a concept online where the teal parts on the shark was replaced with silver and thought it looked pretty good. wquarton
Linden said in the pre-season the Canucks were exploring another new look, and even released a Johnny Canuck "fashion jersey". That jersey is terrible. I hope it never moves up from "fashion" status.I totally disagree. I have one and I get countless compliments on it, mainly because of Johnny Canuck. I love the green. The Whalers are long gone and there hasn't been any team to wear a kelly green jersey with blue since then.Anyway, here's my wish list:Buffalo: Lose the silver piping and the turd third.Calgary: Retros full time or at the very least, an '04 look with red yokes on the whites, red helmets with the reds and non italic font.Colorado: More traditional with a bit of pre-Edge elements. Replace the black with maroon. Emphasize a unique colour.Minnesota: New everything starting with the name. Green should be primary dark colour regardless of any name change.Nashville: Wear yellows on the road with yellow helmets. Navy worn worn at home.Ottawa: Traditional jersey template with new 2D logo and black as the primary dark colour.Pittsburgh: At least return to '91-'92 template.San Jose: Bring back hem striping and lose front numbers.Toronto: Harold Ballard Leaf must go. Blue yokes on whites and single white stripes on the pants.Vancouver: Make Skating Johnny OR the Stick 'n Rink the primary. Return to block font and add a green border. Royal blue as a primary and either kelly green or navy with lots of green as alternate jersey colour.I don't mind the green but personally I wish they would stick with the Orca permenantly. Perhaps I'm biased though because I'm from the yukon and its got first nation style art in it. I don't mind them selling johnny canuck merch but I wish we could just settle on one logo. Guess it's unlikely to happen until they win a cup with one though.
