2015-16 NHL Uniform and Logo Changes

I just noticed that Montréal is putting full-length laces in their jersey necklines, so they can actually be tied. Of course, it's been eight years since anyone in the NHL was actually able to tie up their jersey laces, so no one on the Habs is doing it.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

i'm pretty sure they have the exact same laces that all of the other teams wear. they just are missing the top set of eyelets, do the majority of the lace is dangling, instead of actually laced into the collar. i wanted to lace up my authentic stars jersey when i first got it, because i prefer the traditional laced look... the only way i could make it work was unlacing it from the top eyelets, which i think just looks terrible, so i went back to the way the players do it with the short laces...

the only real solution is to go with longer laces, and i'd prefer limper laces, too... montreal's solution looks no better to me. it makes laces that are already ornamental (in no way functional) even more useless. they're barely even laced into the jersey at all, now.

neither of these look as good as this:

Looks like the Canadiens still have longer laces than the Stars. If you cross the laces one more time, the length would still be well past the bottom horizontal lace.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

So took a gander into Jersey City today in Edmonton (South Common one for anyone that lives around there) and was chatting with one of the guys working there. He told me some interesting things for next year that he's heard:

- Vancouver is looking at bringing back the flying V jersey as an alternate

- Boston wants to use the vintage bear for their alternate next year

- Washington wants to go full time vintage (which was discussed here as well)

- Adidas will not be changing the uniform system. They will be keeping the same templates and will not go away from the Edge system.

Whether he has any actual knowledge of what is going on behind closed dorrs in the hockey world, I don't know but I try make it a point to try and dig information from jersey store people as they can provide info if they want to.

I have been hearing that the Canucks are getting a green alternate with Johnny Canuck as the logo. By Flying 'V', I have a feeling he means the 94' throwback that they are wearing in February. Boston's new WC jersey would be a good replacement for the Bruins' current third but I wish they would bring their yellow Winter Classic jersey back.

I asked if he meant the 1982 and he said yes. I love that jersey because of how ugy it is and how unique it is. I wouldn't mean it but only for an alternate.

Washington's throwback duds don't stand the test of time as much as they'd like to think they do.

A lot of people feel that way. But I believe the change is more for financial reasons than for aesthetic reasons. They are going to ditch a great modern look just to make extra profit on the throwbacks. It's terrible to see good uniforms disapear for this reason.

Looks like they were trying to copy the Mighty Ducks.

WHAT? The San Jose Sharks predate the Mighty Ducks (team and film) by at least a year!

The Caps branding is fine, but the uniforms could use an overhaul. Keep the throwback around as an alt if you must, but don't go back to them full time.

Their primary logo is hot trash and the retro version is even worse... I get the need to use red, white and blue but use a real logo. Screaming Eagle, Weagle, even the Capitol Building are all vastly superior options.

The Caps uniforms are being called good?

Is that supposed to be a joke? Those things are nowhere near good.

Yeah, this. The Weagle logo is awesome, but the main crest is terrible and that set already looks really stale. If they're going to insist on keeping the hockey stick wordmark, they might as well keep the retro style with the stars all over the place.

Or they could just bring this set back. That'd be cool. Recolor it or not. Prefferably not.

If the Caps went back to that '90s blue, used a slightly deeper red, and had silver or bronze as an accent color, that could work. The screaming eagle and the Weagle could be a nice logo set together, too.
