JackieMoon
Came across this today on Ebay. Anyone have any information on this? I do know that the Blue Jackets were suppose to be named after Chief Blue Jacket of the Shawnee. However, the Blackhawks blocked it, due to similarities. Luke_Groundrunner
That's not a bad logo, but is way to similar to the Blackhawks. I still think the current CBJ logo is much better though. The Blackhawks also blocked the Kansas City Scouts from using their original logo, and jerseys. OhioSportsMan61
I believe that it was a concept that was created by a fan a few years back. Not an actual prototype. My Behance Portfolio --- Follow @Steinosaur19
Gothamite
The hockey team insisted at the time that they were not named after the chief. Good thing, too - they already had a Civil War thing and an insect thing going on. That's too much already, and a third meaning behind the nickname would have tipped them right into absurdity. I know you'd get a fairly big backlash in today's society for using Native American imaginary ... but, I like it. FWIW.

Well and the fact that at the time they were going to join the same division as the Blackhawks. They would've gotten a lot of backlash, yeah. | ANA | LAA | LAR | LAL | ASU | CSULB | USMNT | USWNT | LAFC | OCSC | MAN UTD |
Sodboy13
That's not as bad as the attempted Kansas City MO-Hawks, but yeah, no way the league lets that fly, especially in Chicago's division. As for the shirt itself, since it's C9 apparel, and I believe Champion didn't start distributing that brand through Target until at least 2000, that's definitely some sort of homemade reproduction or concept, and not any sort of actual prototype. crashcarson15
Plus the club didn't start using Ohio imagery until the third jersey came out a few years into the brand.
JackieMoon
I'm surprised that Buffalo hasn't blocked anything. As long as they don't use Custer, Sherman, Grant, or Sheridan, I'm alright.
Sport
Decent logo, but I have never heard it stated anywhere that the Blue Jackets were named after anything other than Union soldiers.
Morgan33
Solid logo but the Blue Jackets have already achieved perfection in that area. The jerseys are a different story.
Gothamite
Decent logo, but I have never heard it stated anywhere that the Blue Jackets were named after anything other than Union soldiers. They weren't. But there's the small matter of their insect logo. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
