@phinish and @chrome14, why would I go to "the Miami boards"? I'm on the best board when it comes to analysis of sports uniforms, and these are getting a double thumbs-down.

Well I asked my question for a reason. How would Adidas benefit from designing a uniform that people loved here that Miami fans hated? Miami fans here are giving them a positive review so far. People who will be watching them for 12-14 games a year(miami fans) who aren't here like them too. Early reviews say Adidas did their job.

We have Miami fans on the board too. One of which isn't a fan.

"I believe in Auburn and love it!"

It really is a great question, and I think it's one that's depressing to a lot of people on this board. We're realizing that, from high school through college and sometimes into the pros, numerous fans, especially newer ones, like "swag", which is pretty much indefinable when it comes to sports uniforms but can be summed up as something that looks new and bold.

But you can't fault me for having a modicum of taste and being informed and invested in sports uniform aesthetics, at least from the 90s onwards, and judging on that basis that this look as a uniform is more than laughable: it's insulting.

In other words, I don't have to be awed by swag. Believe me, if these Hurricanes played like the 80s Hurricanes or if my Wolverines' basketball team played like the Fab Five, I'd anoint swag where swag is due, but I can see past novelty, thanks to tastes developed through years of viewing experience and time on this board.

I'm guessing that the slashes are trying to emulate Palm trees.

What are the slashes supposed to emulate on UCLA's jersey? I think the Adidas slashes will be this year's equivalent to the triangular mesh inserts Nike put on all their jerseys last year. Adidas will put the slashes on numerous uniforms and will come up with a different ridiculous design inspiration for each school.

It's not nearly as bad as I feared. Even though Miami is a modern school, in my mind, they should always had a connection/ resemblance with the 1990s/80s team uniforms. It's really the Adidas stuff that screws up the look. If the Shock-print, or what ever it is didn't distract from the look so much, the sleeve stripes would compliment the look instead of looking like another slapped on part.

The numbers have a rubbery and outlined look which isn't good. But the stripes pattern is correct, the jersey and pants' stripes coordinate with the helmets, which Nike had failed to do since, well, 2000.

I'd give it a C+ or B-.

Gotta say, they're much better than I expected...

But how hard is it too match the helmet stripe with the other stripes? (Pants/uni are orange-green-orange, helmet is the opposite...)

Of course they will. But in Miami's case, they seem to have angled and curved the slashes to emulate palm trees.

No dumb alternate helmets??? I'm speechless. I'm without speech.

These are far from perfect but I gotta say I actually like this look for Miami. Take away the dopey mesh material shtick and the metallic/shiny numbers and I think these are great

Well, there are rumors of a one-off black helmet for the black unis that will be worn only once later this season.

*looks at Miami's home schedule*

Well they have Nebraska early and then not really much more than that ohnonononoitsgonnabeagainstClemsonnonono.

As time passes, the more mad I am at this. The inconsistencies, the Adidas stuff, everything. The Adidas football Twitter is really touting how fast the team is going to be now. Please someone save those for if they get blown out this year.

The basic premise of the uniform is GREAT. However, it's absolutely killed by the stupid, shimmery numbers and the slashes in the stripes. As others have said, it looks very cheap. If this exact design were sitting on a Nike template with matte numbers and without the stupid slashes, we would be grading it a 9 out of 10. Just goes to show how Adidas has fallen in terms of football design. Count me as one that definitely prefers last year's Nike set.

This definitely scares me as an Arizona State fan. It pretty much shows that even if what they came up with for the Devils is remotely cool, they'll just ultimately ruin it with those downright hideous slashes.

I agree with everything you said. Take out the slashes, Shockweb pattern, and shiny numbers and that's one good looking uniform. I just don't get what Adidas is thinking with all the things they're doing on their uniforms this season. For every one good uniform they have, they seem to have 5 misses that boggle the mind as to why anyone would think they look good.

Also not have stripes made of duct tape as well
