College Football Uniforms - 2015 Season

Recommended Posts

As an Aggie, I think they are okay. Could've been MUCH worse based on what we have seen from Adidas this offseason. They'll look fine by me as long as we win...However, I don't understand why we didn't just break back out the black uni's we wore against Miss St in 2012. I really like those, and these are similar but definitely a downgrade and far more gimmicky, which is typical from the 3 stripes. Hopefully it's a night game.

Press release from Adidas

Texas A&M and adidas today unveiled the Aggie Nights Primeknit alternate football uniform, which will be worn by the Aggies exclusively on Halloween, Saturday, October 31st, versus South Carolina at Kyle Field. Developed in collaboration with Texas A&M Athletics, the new special edition uniform is at the forefront of design and innovation, providing players with the perfect blend of style and technology for elite performance.

Centered around an all-black theme for Halloween, the Aggie Nights Primeknit alternate uniform features Texas A&M's "Lone Star Logo" clear-coated seamlessly into the black satin finish of a HydroSkin helmet from Hydro Graphics Inc. (HGI). This innovative helmet features all-new reflective technology to light up the night. The black jersey and pants are highlighted with silver metallic numbers and stripes with carbon-fiber detailing, while the "Texas A&M" moniker is featured in metallic maroon lettering with carbon-fiber detailing across the chest. Additionally, the Lone Star Logo is also incorporated into the pant stripes, creating a cohesive signature look.

Made with a cutting-edge, proprietary yarn blend that increases durability and abrasion resistance, Primeknit is the premier compression uniform system, featuring the latest generation of adidas TECHFIT technology. Primeknit helps keep players cool and increases range of motion, giving athletes an unrivaled level of comfort and allowing them to perform at their highest levels. The jersey's padlock system secures tension over the shoulder pads, while the bodymap fit adheres to the player, making it difficult for opponents to grab, hold or tackle.

Rounding out the head-to-toe package is the TECHFIT gun show baselayer, featuring an oversized graphic Lone Star Logo on the chest, the adizero 5-Star 4.0 gloves, and the adizero 5-Star 4.0 cleats. The adizero 5-Star 4.0, lighter than any competitor cleat at 8.0 ounces, has a SPRINTSKIN upper with SHOCKWEB reinforcement and a 5-Star frame plate that provides maximum acceleration and multi-directional traction, while the adizero 5-Star 4.0 gloves feature 4-way stretch mesh for compression fit and GripTack 2.0 for consistent control in all weather conditions.

Every time I read one of these corporate speak monstrosities I die a little inside.

I can see the technical writers high-fiving after proof reading this.

Coach Sumlin was on the radio doing an interview. When asked about the jerseys he said he doesn't care that much, the players love it, BUT said Adidas has came to him with some crazy ideas and mock ups and he has told them No to plenty of times.

That's the scary part. I can't imagine what some of these "crazy ideas" would look like with what all we've seen before.

Texas A&M wearing all black for Halloween.

New rule: any team wearing black has to play their opponent wearing black... for the sole purpose of showing how stupid it's become.

And schedule the game on Black Friday with cameo color commentary by Jack Black.

Texas A&M's AD just released another statement about the new uniforms. When asked about the particular shade used for the uniforms, he stated: "It's like, 'how much more black could this be?' and the answer is 'None. None more black.'"

After seeing these new helmets with "reflective technology" (from HGI Instagram account) applies to the decals, I'm willing to bet anything that those glow in the dark Oregon helmet/jersey promo pictures are more than just for marketing and are actually reflective.

Oregon has had 3M detailing on at least a couple of their jerseys since the diamond plate era. Based off the Nike Free 5.0 Trainers that just released, I think your guess has basis

Wow, black uniforms at the **forefront of performance technology**! More teams should do this -_-

At least the reveal poses aren't nearly as douchey as Nike (you know: roaring, shooting out lightning bolts, etc.)

Hmm, I dunno. You don't consider the flexing, and throwing up 3 fingers, to be at least a little douchey as well?

I definitely prefer Nike's aesthetics when it comes to their promotional marketing and uniform reveals.

Yeah, Nike's not self-aggrandizing.

Ok, so it's an angel and demon.... errr, no not quite. Is Ohio State a demon? No wait.... oh I get it... wings for Oregon because they're the Ducks. And a cape for Ohio State because Buckeyes are known to have cape... wait... that's not it. Hmmm... Ohio State is a champion? Yeah! They won the Big Ten, so they're a conference champ and are wearing a cape like a warrior or prize fighter. And since Oregon won the Pac-12, they're also wearing a ca... ummm wings? Wait, maybe it's an Avengers tie-in? Oregon is The Falcon and Ohio State is Thor? Does that make Alabama into The Hulk? Who's Florida State? Captain America?

Hmmm... maybe Nike is kinda douchey, too.

Nice...gang signs! Great message, I guess we have low expecations for football players these days.

As for the uniform, I hate it because it's not displaying the team/school colors.

The alternating finger patterns (black/white) make the darker fingers blend into that maroon background.

Gives him Devito Penguin hands.
