College Football Uniforms - 2015 Season

The Panthers uniforms are pretty much perfect and shouldn't be altered (outside of dropping the hip logo, which I fully support). Ideally, they'd have an alternate logo on the sleeves. However, they've had the logo on the sleeves for all 20 seasons, so no reason to take it off now. The only change they really need to make is to wear their black jerseys for seven home games each season. Oh, and destroy the black pants.

As for moving the stripes, their stripes now are perfect. They're the only team which actually executes the shoulder loops properly, with them truncating at the cuffs rather than just ending in the middle of nowhere. The last thing they need to do is go to sleeve stripes and have little 4" wide color slashes on their sleeves.

This is the correct opinion.

I'm assuming you aren't a Panthers fan, don't see too many non-fans give them credit. A few changes like you outlined above and they're perfect. People who wan't to drop the silver are very strange to me, as the Raiders show as well, silver, black, and white are a nice color combo, along with the unique blue to differentiate the schemes. Love them, really hope they never seriously change them.

That's one of my biggest pet peeves for football teams. Clemson has had this look at times, too. Must be a Carolinas thing, lol?

This uniform is so close but yet so far.

- Helmet has a bold dark blue outline

- Logo on helmet has no outline

- Numeral has thin dark blue outline

Unify these elements and the set would be solid. Can never understand why they can't see this. Strange.

For reference, here's that same uniform combo last year:

The tiger paw, especially in the last few years, is almost exclusively one color, so putting any outline around it is a no go. The *purple* outline on the numbers is also slightly thicker than that set from about 7 years ago.

If the logo isn't ever used with an outline then I would just remove the purple outline from the numerals and have the single, white stripe on the helmet.

So you would get rid of all purple in the entire uniform? That's not a good solution.

What they really need to do is go purple/orange/purple on the pants stripe and replace the paws on the sleeves with the same braisher stripes. Like so (shameless plug):

As for the earlier debate, I'm not a fan of teams wearing the same logo in multiple places of the same uniform. Be a little more creative than that. Not to mention logos on sleeves are a dated 80s look for me (albeit they were just thrown over sleeves stripes back then).

I mean, yeah, Clemson's logo is iconic, but it's iconic for being so generic that any high school team with a feral feline mascot can recolor it and slap it on their uniforms. University of the Pacific even stole it at one point.

Yeah, removing the purple sounds easy in practice, but lord help you if you try to do it in real life.

Also, I really like that concept, put I might put the paws on the shoulder like so:

Counterpoint, it is an iconic logo because of its use. Is Oregon, Tennessee, or Wisconsin's logos not iconic because many high school teams use it to represent an initial? I don't say Texas' logo is any less iconic because just about every team with a bovine nickname uses it. Yes, it represents that team, but you know where it originated from.

I wish this happened more often with rivalries whose color schemes have stark differences (as they do with USC-UCLA and BYU-Utah); makes for such a beautiful game.

Florida State-Miami, Oklahoma-Texas, Michigan-Ohio State, Indiana-Purdue, Alabama-Tennessee, Maryland-Penn State, and Iowa-Nebraska are just some that come to mind.

Huge downgrade for Ball State. They put out a video and the equipment manager sounded like an idiot. I wonder if the helmet stripes are something the coaches wanted. I remember Kentucky doing that because it was easier for coaches to watch film on lineman with the stripes as opposed to clean.

While I am disappointed with the BFBS and numbers on one side of the helmet, I am actually a fan of adding the stripe. Ball State's white helmets always looked very empty to me, especially with the clunky logo.

The game really needs more color on color matches. Heck, I'd be happy if Nebraska took away the alternates and just did all-color games against teams like Iowa, Michigan, MSU and Penn State.

Actually, NU-PSU would be slick. All white pants, all white helmets with the single color stripes and red vs. blue jerseys. The clean lines and simple design of a game like that would make half of Adidas' designers die from shock.

Arkansas wore red against Mizzour last year in Columbia and it looked fantastic. I'm really hoping that becomes a yearly thing and Mizzou wears black in Fayetteville this year.
