Can someone tell me why my new thread for I posted last night at 17:45 PST in The Lounge called "Cpl Nathan Cirillo Returns to Hamilton" was moved? Why was I not even messaged about it. I thought it deserved it's own post and not get buried in the the BS in the "Ottawa Parliament Shootings" thread.

I'm going to presume it's because it's a new post on an already made topic. It didn't warrant it's own thread.

The topic is new because it had to do with Cpl Nathan Cirillo's return to Hamilton by funeral procession, the outpouring of love and Canadian pride by people who didn't know Cirillo but felt a duty to say thank you for the needless slaying that occurred. It had nothing to do with the BS coward that shot him and events that surrounded the Parliament shootings. It deserved it's own thread, period! I don't believe it should have been buried in the Ottawa Shooting thread. Take it from me a current long serving member of the Canadian Armed Forces, most notably the Royal Canadian Navy of 18 years, who has done more and risked more than most of these moderators on this board. That 24 year old soldier deserves the recognition even if it's on this board to stand on it's own. I think it's a sacrilege and a dishonesty to us Canadians to push this thread to somewhere it doesn't deserve to be.

It does though, considering he was the one that was shot. I don't think anyone is trying to undermine what you, Nathan or any military personal do, but it was just a housekeeping issue mod wise.

The new thread had to do with Cirillo's funeral procession from Ottawa-Hull to Hamilton, Ontario. Not the shooting in Ottawa itself.

It's still the same "incident".

We have the NFL thread and the Anti-NFL thread for all the issues going on behind the scenes of the NFL. If someone makes a separate thread for anything that comes out now (more suspensions, arrests, etc.) it would get moved into one of those threads. It's just the mod protocol here.

Well if it's moderator protocol, then why hasn't any of these so-called people in charge had the decency to message me or even post in this thread saying anything on this matter? I'm getting tired of people on this board thinking they have the rights to tell people what they can post and not post, being everything I post on this board is tasteful and non-discriminatory.

Most times there isn't a lot of fanfare around merging of topics, usually just a single post from a mod saying it was moved. But it's usually only for the topics that get large amounts of attention and people are looking for.

You're still allowed to post what you want, it will just get dealt with under the rules of the board or discretion of the mods.

Monkeypower, thanks for being honest with me. At least someone on this board is. But I am expecting an actual response from the moderators on this matter because this boils my blood, especially with the subject on the matter. I know there are moderators online right now watching what everyone posts but they don't have the decency to even reply to any of these posts today in this thread nor can PM me. Maybe they should stand up and be accountable for their actions not just sit behind a computer screen and be drunk with power moving and deleting things as "they" seem fit.

Disclaimer. I wasn't the mod who merged the topics so I cannot claim to speak for whoever did. I will, however, try my best to shed light on the situation.

VG. Anyone who knows me here will tell you I have a deep love for my country and a deep sense of respect for those who risk their lives in service to it and the values it stands for. I find myself entirely agreeing with your reasoning for starting a separate thread to honour the memory of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo.

That being said? I also understand why it was merged with the Parliamentary Shooting thread. Despite our shared sentiments? I would have merged the threads had I seen yours pop up. Not out of any attempt to bury or diminish Cpl. Cirillo's memory but simply to keep the boards as running tightly as possible. The events that occurred in Ottawa three days ago were unlike anything this country has seen in close to forty-five years. The after-effects will be felt for years to come as we address just how this tragedy was allowed to take place, and what steps we as a nation should take to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Everything related to the murder of Cpl. Cirillo and the attack on our Parliament should be discussed in the appropriate thread. Yes, Cpl. Cirillo's memory deserves to be honoured. And we should do it in that thread. So that we can turn what was a discussion about a tragedy into a discussion about how we will honour a man who died for his country and how we as a nation will move forward stronger because of it.

I know this situation hits close to home for you and it does for me as well, considering I have several family members who served in the military. Though if I were a mod, I also probably would've merged that into the already existing thread. However, whatever mod that moved it should have left a note saying it was moved, because transparency is a good thing.

Ice_Cap...thank you for chiming in on this matter. And thank you for your candidness and honesty. The fact that I started another topic thread on Cpl Nathan Cirillo's funeral procession yesterday was out of mere honour and commemoration of what he stood for as a soldier defending the values both mine and your country. That's why i joined the Royal Canadian Navy 18 years ago, so i can make a difference in both my life and my family's lives. As well as defend the values of my country. The other reason I started another thread on the funeral procession because as I read through that comments on the Ottawa Parliament Shooting thread, I was disgusted to see people talking about Islamic extremism and fundamentalism being the primary cause of this. Even though there is still no direct proof that he was even part of ISIS/ISIL nor was he ever approached by them. Nor was he on any 90-specified watchlist by the RCMP. I did not want the diminish Nathan Cirillo's memory for what he paid for ultimately with his life by standing on guard at the National War Memorial. Cirillo and his best friend (the one that was standing directly adjacent to Cirillo as he got shot that morning) volunteered to be part of the National Sentry Guard Program because they both believed it was their duty and an absolute honour to do so to stand on guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier. I didn't want that story to be buried through the normal rhetoric and conspiracy bull :censored: on this board and said daily throughout America.

Ice_Cap: maybe you and the rest of the moderators should take a closer look at what is actually said in some of these threads and realize why people sometimes start new ones on the same subjects. Not just because they want to have their say, but because we are tired of hearing the same bull :censored: being said over and over again but the true story should be put front and center. And the center of this story is the sacrifice of a good man, a father and someone who believed in the country enough to join the Canadian Army Reserves and had aspirations to join the Regular Force Army. I am just tired of people who control what is said and done on these boards (not pointing fingers at you Ice_Cap for this one as you have honesty talk to me on this topic even though you were not directly involved with it) don't have the balls to make a post or even PM people nowadays to say why they have decided on something. Most things I have seen recently on CCSLC, now this matter including, is making up new rules after the fact to cover their asses for their narrow mindedness and ignorance instead of telling the truth. Yes this one issue of moving my post to a topic that is full of posts that has nothing to do with the discussion of Nathan Cirillo at all upsets me. 99% of the time I would not have cared. But this absolutely pisses me off because of what my ties to Cirillo (the Canadian Armed Forces) and what that funeral procession from Ottawa-Hull to Hamilton meant not just the military but the first responders and civilians alike lining the 401 yesterday for six plus hours waving Canadian flags, dressed in red and white, and singing O Canada at the top of their lungs because of what Cirillo means to us as a nation.

So I thank you again Ice_Cap for your honesty and candidness. But I think the moderator who moved my post should answer to me directly.

Or maybe you can PM them?

I have thought of PM a couple moderators but I have done that in the past and gotten in s**t for PM a moderator. I was told not to ever PM a moderator. It's certain people like that who think they have god status on here again. Plus I don't know exactly moved my post...don't think many of the moderators would even tell me.

Ever think that it's a Saturday and they have lives?

Oh I know the moderators have lives, that's without a doubt. But I know this person is most likely online today and refuses to comment on this situation due to his or her ignorance and narrow mindlessness. All I am asking is for the moderator who moved my post should have either left a note with my post or even PM me to tell me that he or she moved it for this reason. But now I am expecting an actual response to the matter, not just some bull :censored: excuse of "thread keeping" and "cleaning up the forums".

Those are legitimate excuses. You're taking this way too seriously.

Your ceaseless passion and fury about this act of unspeakable injustice on an internet message board is certainly a great way to endear yourself to others around here.

You've had one of the moderating team give a well- and kindly-worded explanation. I'm not going to bother reiterating that. If you can't accept that and continue to feel exceptionally angry about this action on an internet message board, perhaps you should reconsider your priorities.

Furthermore, your assessment about the moderators acting as if we run the place is... well, true. This board is owned/paid for by one Mr. Chris Creamer. He has asked us to moderate it--on a volunteer basis, no less--so that people may continue to find them useful and enjoyable. We do what we can to maintain that status. Given that many of us have been part of this "community" since before it even had its current home, I'd go so far as to say we feel a vested interest in keeping it that way.

Does the RCN ban blogs? If not, a blog might be the platform for you, as it gives you the control over the discussion and commentary that you so crave.

Well I guess so...I was looking for answers from the actual moderator who moved my thread topic to a topic which was full of bull :censored: and nothing to do with my topic post. I thanked Ice_Cap for his honesty and candidness, I never said anything otherwise to this matter to Ice_Cap. He at least he talked to me about this matter, even though he wasn't the moderator in question. But what i am tired of is the so called "veterans" on the board (10,000+ post) who always think they know what's best with this message board, bullying people with less amount of posts on a regular basis - even hijacking their thread topics to show disgust toward those topics because they are the "veterans" and know what's right and wrong. But the moderators never intervene on that. But I digress....

Like I said from the original question I posted in this thread, I was looking for answers from the actual moderator who moved my thread topic to a topic which was full of bull :censored: and nothing to do with my topic post.

This is what I am talking about, bullys and racist pigs like rams80 interjecting into topics that has nothing to do with him. Get bent!

As for posting about Cpl Dirillo's funeral procession, I posted this because there are both Canadian and Americans on this message board. And I wanted to let everyone know about this touching and endearing event for us Canadians. But like usual, there is a select group of closed-minded people on this board who believe that if it doesn't have to do with the USA or even interests them in anyway, they have the right and privilege to bully other people. Don't think many of these people would do the same if they were in front of that person they are bullying...

Transparency is great, but so is common sense. The boards would be a hot mess if we stopped to give a play by play on every little bit of clean up we did.

If you see one thread merged with another, similar, thread? You don't need us to explain why that happened.
