FiddySicks
Well, that was a nice little run of my Giants and the Cards (who are my dad's favorite team) trading off pennants. Hard to beat 5 straight years of that from a personal standpoint. Kinda just seems like the Cubs year though. Good for them. Now go anyone but the :censored:ing Dodgers!Ok, but why are they decking them out in hats and t shirts for an LDS win? That's pretty ridiculous. infrared41
Starting Hammel = loss. There's just no other way about it. Cubs will lose in St. Louis and the Cardinal fan peckerheads will rise up to laugh and make merry at Cub fan anguish, as is standard. Life ends.Right on the money again, Andy. Congrats. It's gotta be extra nice knocking off the Cardinals.

It's a chance to sell more postseason gear. Now that the Cardinals are out, it's not like any of the remaining teams make it this far very often. Certainly none of the remaining AL teams have, save Kansas City last season. The only thing I find goofy are the plastic tarps in the victorious clubhouse. While there's cause to celebrate advancing to the next round, it seems a little less meaningful to celebrate advancing to the LCS than it does clinching the division or a wild card spot (because a six-month grind is being rewarded) or winning the pennant or World Series (because you're either celebrating getting to the WS or you just won it). Crabcake
I. CAN'T. BELIEVE. THEY. DID. IT. Up until the last out I thought they'd blow it, just because they're the Cubs. But they did it. I'm stoked for them. Also doesn't hurt to see the Cardinals get beaten by their bitter rivals. Was getting kinda tiring to see them in every LCS for the last four (I think) years. Sport
I am over the moon right now. I have no divisional animosity for the Cubs. They've provided the Reds with a lot of wins over the last few years. Plus I have family in Chicago. The Cardinals on the other hand can take a Royals-esque break from the postseason. The Cardinals only win it all when the trollocity is at a maximum high. I think I called them getting swept in the first round for that reason. The Cubs pulled a backdoor sweep by winning the last three so I was close enough. The playoffs are set up for some fun, stress free baseball from here on. I love when things I want to happen happen. CS85
Starting Hammel = loss. There's just no other way about it. Cubs will lose in St. Louis and the Cardinal fan peckerheads will rise up to laugh and make merry at Cub fan anguish, as is standard. Life ends. There's something I'd like to say here, but I don't want every Cubs fan on these here boards to blame me if I'm wrong. (I won't be, but I'll respect whatever it is we respect when we're trying not to jinx something.) Suffice it to say that I'm still completely comfortable with a World Series prediction I made earlier in this thread. I'm looking forward to your postgame post, Andy. OK so I'm a little drunk, so this should be fun. I was in maximum butthole clench earlier tonight while listening to the game at work and wondering if the shot in the dark had failed and the Cardinals would Cardinals their way to another Cardinaling. Unfortunately for my despair and for the long-suffering Cardinals fans, the goddamn Cubs did it in a huge way. This team is as resilient as hell and the only word I can come up with for what's happening with them is Magical. There's genuinely something special happening here that maybe I can't pick up on because I didn't see the 84 or 89 teams, or have the long, long, long, LONG time Cubs fans misery that goes with being a fan. I saw them let me down in 98, 03, 07, and 08 like so many other younger fans, and I keep on waiting for them to revert to the mean....but I don't think that's going to happen. It's such a great, happy feeling, man. I feel amazing right now and I hope the adventure isn't over because the belief this team is creating is really meaningful for so many fans, young and old. It's a great sports moment, and I'm appreciating it in spite of myself.Cardinals fans have, personally, been nothing but cool to me. The ones on social media are basically all human diarrhea anyway, so they can suck it, but the ones who have the class to lose with dignity, I tip my caps.Packers fans can still all kiss my ass and go right to hell, however.
