Yeah he's just the worst. But it's not that far off of what should've been expected.

I still agree with their decision to let Pablo walk, and Duffy has been at least servicable for now, but I can't see them not trying to swing a deal before the trade deadline for some help at third.

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble here, but...

Man, baseball games can be pretty boring sometimes.

You're not bursting anyones bubble. The fact that you took time to go into an MLB thread for the sole purpose to post a negative comment about MLB, shows that you truly are as bored as you say you are. So, in that regard, I believe you.

I've got a solution for you, though. Find a sport in which guys run or skate around for 60 or 90 minutes, often with only a goal or two per team to show for it (on a good, high-scoring night). If you are able to sit through that for a few hours, without falling asleep, then you may have found a sport you like.

Also, try checking out NBCSN, or whatever the hell it is called these days. I think they show sports where guys run or skate around for hours and nothing ever happens. They'd probably love to add you to their viewer(s).

From 2010 through 2014, the Braves record when scoring 8 runs or more in a game was 103-1. This season alone, that record is 7-4. The last three games where the Braves have scored 8+ runs, they've lost.

In their last 12 games, the Braves offense has hit .300 and scored 60 runs (5 per game), but have only won four of those games.

Thanks, trash bullpen!

Thanks for the suggestion, SCalderwood. I'll take your insightful suggestion under consideration.

I was actually at the Angels game today. My family splits season tickets with a friend. I'm an Angels fan. I like baseball generally. I was just commenting that sometimes baseball games can be a chore.

Especially if it's like today's game where the entirety of the Angels infield was garbage. Throwing errors, catching errors, a lost pop-up, dumb mental mistakes, runs scored on balls that didn't make it past the dirt in front of the batter's box. And of course, another episode of "masterful" bullpen control by Scioscia.

But hey it's a long (looooonnnnnnggggggggg) season. Plenty of time.

I love baseball, but sometimes there are games where nothing happens and they are very boring. As my grandfather would say "just another 5-1 midseason game".

You have to have the boring games to inform the good ones.

McGehee has been terrible, no question. I don't know what management is hoping for at this point with him. I think this loss also falls on Bochy. What was he expecting with a lineup that includes Maxwell in center, no Posey, and no Duffy? It is especially infuriating considering how badly the offense has been performing over the last few days.

Word on the street from a lot of Pirates analysts is that the Pirates should be going after Cole Hamels so that the Cardinals don't get him. If you ask me, if the Pirates getting Hamels instead of the Cardinals is a victory than it is a Pyrrhic one. For anything that the Pirates could give the Phillies to get a guy being paid elite money like Hamels is, any thing they could gain from having Hamels pitching is a short term gain, long term loss.

Furthermore, it would be debatable as to how much of a gain that having Hamels would be. Hamels would most assuredly be replacing Locke in the rotation, but the problem is that while Locke has definitely been the weakest link in the rotation, he has for the most part so far been the only problem with a rotation that has had very little problems (if the Pirates have any problems with pitching it would be the bullpen). It's possible that with the upcoming loss of Burnett next year and a possible loss of Cole in the upcoming years that the Pirates could use an arm, but as it stands now I do not believe that this the most pressing issue for both the present and future.

The most pressing dilemma this year, and a problem that could be big in the future, is hitting. While the Pirates are currently 10th in runs scored, when it comes to batting with runners in scoring position they've ranged from mediocre to bad this year. They're 17th in team ba with runners in scoring position, 27th in team runners left in scoring position per game, 21st in team left on base per game, and 20th in runs per game. Furthermore, it's very likely that the Pirates lose two of their productive bats and open up a hole in the infield within the next few years if they fail to keep Walker and Alvarez, so if you ask me one of the bigger things that would make a short term and long term gain in this case is to ignore Hamels for the most part and attempt to see if it's possible to get a bat that can produce with RISP and is capable of being kept for more than just half a year.

If the Cardinals get Hamels, they'd be almost unstoppable. Their pitching is already one of the best in baseball, even without Wainwright.

Almost maybe, but anything can happen in a short series. I wouldn't rank a Hamels-lead Cardinals team ahead of the monster pitching staff that Hamels lead in 2011 with the Phillies, and the Cardinals still managed to beat them in five games.

Now I hope the Jays don't collapse after they lose their next game... they all keep saying that other than scoring a lot, they can't really explain the streak.

Isn't that spanish for 'we don't know how to win but we are right now'? lols
