Dear Arte Moreno,

Please buy Mike Trout a private island made of solid gold with a giant garage for all of his All Star Game trucks so he will stay an Angel forever.

Sincerely,

Guy who recently called you a turd

P.S. You're still a turd. You just happen to sign the checks for my favorite baseball squadron.

Aroldis Chapman is goddamn terrifying. He hit 100 MPH on 12 of 14 pitches. He has thrown more 100 MPH pitches this year than the rest of the MLB COMBINED.

Does franchise four sound better than having a Mt. Rushmore?

The two teams that I thought got it right on the money were the Yankees and Braves.

I'd add the Orioles to that list. It's hard to argue with Palmer, Ripken and the Robinsons. Eddie Murray is a very close 5th, but the first four are the right ones.

Agreed. I definitely could not argue any of the Orioles that were chosen. My other team, the Phillies, was 100% correct too. Ashburn, Carlton, Roberts, and Schmidt are all great choices.

yeah, he's an anomaly, a freak of nature. Anytime anyone gets a hit off of him it's astonishing.

It's a real shame the Reds wasted him for almost 6 seasons.

I think the Tigers Franchise Four was 75% correct. Al Kaline, Ty Cobb, and Hank Greenberg were perfect selections, but I think Charlie Gehringer would've been a more deserving candidate than Miguel Cabrera. He spent his entire career with the Tigers, is already in the Hall of Fame, and actually won a World Series with the team, which, in my opinion, is one of the most important criteria in determining all time greats for such a storied franchise.

I enjoyed the Franchise Four, when I voted what seems like 100 weeks ago.

Yankees are correct, thank gawd no Jeter/Rivera on that mantle no pun intended. I actually voted Bonds for Pirates, not for Giants. Blue Jays I voted Dave Stieb ahead of Halladay, he was Toronto's beastmode in the 80's. Nice to see Posey for the Giants, I think I voted for him.

Albert Pujols was robbed... I def voted for him ahead of Lou Brock.

I'd go Cobb, Gehringer, Kaline and Trammell. But the only one on that list that isn't interchangeable is Cobb.

You have Hank Greenberg, Harry Heilmann and Hal Newhouser all of whom are no doubt HOFers. Even with Cabrera he's six time all-star with two MVP's, and a triple crown to his name and this is his eighth year with them. I wouldn't put him on my franchise four either with them either, but he's in the discussion.

I actually would put Greenberg last of all those names mentioned, but the only thing not debatable here is Cobb being one. After that you could really go any order you wanted to with those seven names and you would get no argument from me.

There's several MVP's from that team that I haven't even mentioned either. That should tell you just how loaded that team has been over the years.

Buster Posey on the Giants is a travesty that is a great franchise with many great players and Posey may be great now but Christy Matthewson, Juan Marichal, Mel Ott, Orlando Cepeda and Carl Hubbel all deserved it more.

As a Royals fan, I am highly impressed with the way they have performed through the first half of the season. Hopefully they can keep it up.

I didn't think they would maintain their performance, but some how they're doing even better than they wore last season.

Travesty is a strong word...but I tend to agree. Posey was the "really?" name that stuck out most to me. Mathewson shoulda been picked.

Four for the Giants should be Bonds, Mathewson, Mays and Ott. Its one of if not the easiest team to do IMO.

I can't say I'm surprised at the list. Posey does have an MVP to his name and I would say he's the best catcher the franchise has ever had. But at the same time he's not that close. Bobby Bonds, Will Clark, Jeff Kent, Matt Williams. Even Tim Lincecum who does have two Cy Youngs to his name are guys I'd take over Posey and that's just counting San Francisco.

With Ott and Mathewson they just get screwed because they never played in San Francisco. But at the same time why should fans in San Francisco really give a damn about those two?

If I were up to me I probably would have split the team and done two separate votes. One for San Francisco and one for New York. If you broke it down that way I'd have Bonds, Marichal, Mays and McCovey for San Francisco. Mathewson, Mays, Ott and Amos Rusie for New York, but you could swap him out with Carl Hubbell if you don't want to count players from before the 20th century.

It's not a travesty by any means. He's the most important player the Giants have had since Mays, and (I think) he's the most decorated Giants position player ever, and he's still only in his 5th year!

Yeah, sure. Mathewson, Marichal, and Cepeda make a strong case, but none of them have the accolades that Posey does. :censored:, nobody does.

If anything, I'd argue for one of those players over Bonds, not Posey (but id still personally pick Bonds).

Buster Posey has also only played five years.

Barry Bonds has five MVPs as a Giant

Willie McCovey is the friggen cove and the first San Francisco superstar

Willie Mays is one of the four best ever period. MLB four (Ruth, Gehrig, Mays, Walter Johnson)

Christy Matthewson won over 400 games had three shutouts in the 1905 World Series and was one of the most dominant pitchers ever. Just because he played 100 years ago should not diminish his importance to the Giants.

It doesn't diminish his importance to the team, but you can only pick four players. Mathewson did that eleven decades ago in another city, and there's already another candidate that represents the New York era (Mays) plenty fine.

I think the reason Posey is getting knocked for this is because it's hard for people to really grasp the magnitude of what he's done already. He's the main piece of the first THREE World Series titles the Giants have won on the west coast after a half century long drought. He's caught FOUR no hitters (including the first perfect game in Giants history) when the Giants hadn't had a single one since the mid 1970s. MVP, batting title, and CBPotY in 2012.

Seriously, Posey could retire right now and he's already the most important San Francisco Giant.
