Did anyone see Frank Gore's recent Instagram picture (@fg2132)? It's a cartoon of him standing next to Andre Johnson in their Colts uniforms. Andre is wearing #80, which is currently Coby Fleener, and Gore is wearing #21, which is currently Vontae Davis. I read somewhere that Andre will actually be wearing #81 for the Colts. As for Gore, there was a picture of him signing his contract next to a Colts #15 jersey (which I didn't think was a valid number for a RB, maybe it was just there since it's 2015), but I have read nothing about what number he will indeed be wearing.

Zach.

I've always hated matte myself. But for some reason I like this one. I think the wing having no reflective glare helps too.

I like your avatar. That's unrelated to this thread, but I feel like we should be making a Star Wars football helmet league or something.

The easiest way to fix that eagles concept helmet is a black facemask. That would tie in the black on the wing and the whole thing would have a little more balance to it.

But if they do go back to kelly green they need to avoid matte at all costs. Matte finish is a scourge on good helmet design.

I'm not sure if this was mentioned yet, but the Jaguars are celebrating their 20th NFL season and have a logo for it (which is currently on their website).

That was for last year. They wore it as a patch last season.

I still haven't figured out how to embed instagram yet but here's the link.

Jags don't look so bad when you can't see the rest of the helmet

And they wore white pants more often.

Really, since the numbers on the white jerseys are teal now and not black, the black pants should just be burned.

It's funny, one team from Florida refuses to wear even aqua pants because of the sun, but another one regularly trots themselves out there in all black.

I have it on good authority that the Patriots will be making a small (but obvious) change to the wordmark on their jerseys next season.

Not sure why it didn't happen before now, but there it is.

Not to steal your thunder Colorwerx , but there was a page from the Nike Catalog that showed this change (it was the same page that announced new alternates for the Dolphins and Packers).

That's OK (!). Just makes me feel better about revealing it...

I'm no Florida expert, but I believe Miami stays much hotter later into the year than Jacksonville does.

---edit---

Just Googled it. The average LOW for Miami in December is 63F. The average HIGH for Jacksonville that month is only 67F and the low dips to 44F.

I can see this argument making a tiny bit of sense in the later months, but in September it's pretty much hot no matter where in Florida you are.

Forgive me if this question has been addressed/buried somewhere in this thread...

Any word on the Eagles swapping midnight green for kelly next season?

Wouldn't this look so much better than what they have today?

Not a fan of the matte finish or chrome mask, but the color scheme here is so much better than the current muddled dark blue/green and dull charcoal with black that I can't fathom anyone thinking otherwise. Every time the Eagle pull out that black alt it always takes me a few beats to even realize it, because their regular green is so damn dark and depressing.

Kelly green, black, and silver is an awesome color scheme IMO.

It doesn't matter, tho. Whatever else the Eagles management my be, they're also stone-dead color blind. That mess of a color scheme isn't going anywhere.

Is that Dublin Coffman High School?

Dublin Scioto in what is probably one of my ten favorite football uniforms. When I played them in high school I was distracted by how cool their uniforms were.

Doh, Scioto. I played at Big Walnut, so we didn't play the big boys often.

But as far as the Philadelphia Eagles go, does the rabid fan base pine for the return to Kelly green?

I'm pleasantly surprised to see so many that dislike matte helmets. I thought I might be in the minority.

I don't think matte is awful, but the only color that looks good in matte (to me) is black.

All matte is subpar to standard gloss but matte black just might be the worst. It actually looks like it's unfinished.

I couldn't disagree any more. Sure it wouldn't be great for a lot of teams, but teams like the Steelers would look head and shoulders better with a matte black helmet.

Agree to disagree I guess. Matte just looks unfinished. I get the concept behind a team like the Steelers in matte. Tough, old school, no need for glossy helmets. In practice though? I just don't think it's appealing.

Granted, this looks better then the alternative angles that would have us seeing the gold half of this clusterf*** of a helmet, but the head-on all black look isn't much better here. You can already see the scrapes and scratches against the matte finish. That doesn't say "tough" to me. That just looks gross.

Fair enough. I just think the Steelers current semi gloss unpainted plastic shell helmets look unfinished as it is (actually, I think they're a total mess), and always end up looking scratched and dinged up anyway, so why not go all out with it?

I'd wager the Vikings look better with their current finish than with the standard gloss. Matte/satin can work for a few select teams.

Actually, I don't know about that one. Something about the Vikings current helmets looks kind of kind of strange to me. If they went with a finish similar to what the Giants have I think they may look better. And I've totally changed my mind about the facemask, too. White or purple would be a better look for them. Black looks just too out of place with the rest of that set.
