I realized that the cardinals and falcons are coming up on about 12 years with their current unis and I dont think any jersey has ever overstayed its welcome more than those two

Those two, along with the Rams, have the most tired looks in football. Hopefully the Rams will be changing given all of the rumors, but there haven't been any winds of change from Atlanta or Arizona. Maybe the Falcons change with their new stadium.

These four are so obviously overdue for new looks it's painful to watch them...

IMO Tampa, Jacksonville, and now Cleveland all have uglier uniforms, but we are stuck with them for now. And for myself, I equally hate Baltimore, Philly, Tennessee and Seattle, but I'd guess that's less of a universal opinion.

ATL I like. I'm usually not a fan of piping but I like that set a lot. Would like black pants to make a return actually.

STL design wise are okay, but definitely weren't designed with matte fabrics in mind. Not terrible but not great.

CIN are terrible, they should just go stripes cap sleeves upgrade the number font, lose the white panels and the zebra striped pants. Put a wordmark on the chest and call it a day.

AZ are really bad. Epitomize generic piping heavy football design. And not in a good way. They need to simplify it so much. Idek what to do about the helmet, I'm usually a fan of grey masks but they totally clash with this set. That being said I don't think any of the other color masks look much better. Just a terrible terrible set.

St. Louis would have possibly the best uniform in the NFL if they wore gold pants.

It's that simple.

No. First off, you'd need to define gold. Are we talking about the light khaki "gold" Nike gives the Saints? To me, stripeless khaki pants would look like a poor attempt at 20's throwback. If we're talking about metallic gold, as in the picture above, that would require them to change the gold on the jerseys back to metallic gold, because Nike made the jerseys ultra-matte trash, too. And even if they changed all that, they'd still have the toilet seat collars.

Either way, the Rams didn't have the best uniform in the NFL when that picture was taken. It was a nice, modern uniform which would work in some instances. But it looked awfully dreary in the dome and was always worse than what came before it.

I've always quite liked the Falcons' look. By far the best use use of piping in the NFL, and I like the shoulder caps too. If they'd straighten up their font, drop the piping in favor of pants striping, and perhaps look to use previous color combos (like a red helmet), they'd really look nice imo.

Tradition is the foundation of innovation, and not the enemy.

I agree that Tampa, Jacksonville, Cleveland, and Seattle have worse looks (and none have been around for the requisite 5 years). Only Cleveland is salvageable in that group, to me....I don't hate the direction they went in...a few tweaks and they are OK. But even a one-tone helmet cannot save Jacksonville...they sucks from the neck down, too.

I am also with you on Baltimore (awful color combo lacking in contrast), Philly (same, plus awful custom numbers), and Tennessee (a bit more salvageable).

Regarding these four photos, I'd like to say that the Falcons, Bengals, and Cardinals uniforms have not aged well. But that would imply that they were ever not terrible. And they were always terrible. Helmets save Cincy and Arizona from total disasters. I don't like Atlanta's logo, but if we're stuck with it than the helmet is as good as can be. It is really time, though, for all three to dump the piping and panel look and take a step toward more traditional. Especially Arizona. But especially Atlanta. But especially Cincinnati.

I am in the minority in that I don't think the Rams color scheme is bad. I'd prefer the look they brought to St. Louis, but the Rams are easily the best looking team out of these photos.

But you otherwise nailed it...Off the top of my head, I cannot think of anything worse than Cincy, Atlanta, Arizona, Tampa, Jacksonville, Cleveland, Philly, Baltimore, Tennessee, and Seattle. Maybe Carolina gets in there for me; I don't feel their look has aged well. Of these that have been around for more than five years, they are all "tired". The rest just suck and hopefully won't get very tired before a change.

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

The Eagles look okay, but I'm not a fan of the black. At some points, it doesn't contrast well with the green.

New Falcons Stadium to be named Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The arch rival Saints have the Mercedes-Benz Superdome so I think this is a horrible name choice.

Eh, I've always only referred to the Saints' revenue as the Superdome anyway.

That's my exact problem with Philly and Baltimore, too... terrible color contrast. The uniform designs themselves are OK, but not in those colors. In Philly's case they use dark green, dark gray, and black, edge to edge to edge... 90% of the time, the borders are pretty much invisible;

josh-huff-nfl-philadelphia-eagles-arizon

Tell me if you can even see the charcoal trim that separates those colors. (Yeah, I know you can claim that this is just a dark photo, but still, a good color design would take into account the variances of lighting IMO) Switching the dark gray to silver would help (and match the silver that's still used in the logo, as a bonus), but a return to a brighter green would be an even better idea. But it seems obvious that for whatever reason, ownership wants to stick to their guns and allow bad taste to prevail.

As for the Ravens... the purple they use is so dark... a shade or so darker than the Vikings, which on it's own is a fine color, but teamed with black it just doesn't work. A lighter or at least slightly brighter purple would help.

Plus... the Ravens' have the worst leotard in Football. Awful.

The only teams that make sense for wearing all black are the Panthers and Ravens.

I'm playing against the Browns right now in Madden 16 and I'm really digging the all white uniform they got. It's surprisingly pretty good looking. Also if you're a Vikings fan then you'll be happy to know that US Bank Stadium is in the game, complete with a new endzone design and no Gold field markings.

While most Bengals fans are so starved for another Super Bowl that they'll take one whenever they can get it, I almost find myself hoping they don't do it in these uniforms. It would really pain me to see them forever immortalized in an NFL Films Super Bowl video wearing these clown costumes. I'm willing to wait for them to change uniforms before they win a championship, because if they were to win one, we'd never get rid of these monstrosities.

I'm with you. I can't believe this is already season number 12 in these costumes. To put that into perspective the Super Bowl uniforms were only worn for 16 years. Only 5 more seasons in the current trash and they'll be around as long as the Super Bowl uniforms!

The problem is I want them to change, but I fear for what Nike would do to us. It's like the uniform equivalent to Andy Dalton - they're not good, but at least I know what we have and the known quantity is greater than the unknown. If you tell Nike to go wild with tiger stripes they'll come back with something five times more stupid looking.

The best uniforms in NFL history only got 7 years and that's just tragic.

Man I loved those bengal uniforms. They need to make an update of that set asap. The current one is beyond disaster, the white stripe on the blacks needs to go yesterday. So much potential, so much disappointment.

GO NETS.

Fixed.

(I like the thinner stripes on the original version; and the tiger on sleeve is overkill).

EDIT: I know the 81-96 uniform had periods of "block" and "Champion" numbers. I prefer the block, so this is actually not the best photo...but too lazy and all...

I waffle back and forth on which one I like more. Boomer does look great and the Bengals in my NFL concept series leaned more towards the 80's uniforms.

So today I think you're right. I do love a blank shoulder pad. Tomorrow I might like the late 90's uniforms more.

I feel like in today's world with subliminated patterns being the norm, that particular Bengals set could be pulled off in such a better way than it was. It was a pretty solid set but those stripes on the shoulders, while great in theory, we're a bit of a disaster in practice. Something a bit more subtle would be great for the Bengals. I wouldn't even mind a set of alt pants that matches the helmet. Wild, but with a simple jersey, I think it could be awesome.
