STL FANATIC
The funding dynamic may have just shifted in St. Louis. Potentially, anyways. Missouri Speaker of the House John Diehl, a Republican from St. Louis County, just resigned not only his position as Speaker but his seat in the legislature over a sexually charged texting scandal with a college freshman intern. Diehl was an ally of the Stadium Task Force. He'd already brokered a deal to keep a bill from limiting or blocking the bond extension possibility, and was likely going to be relied on for more. That can't happen now. Maybe they have enough other allies. We'll see. But it's definitely something to watch. The_Admiral
Paging through the screenshots has revealed this exchange to be the most Missourian of the lot: Showing off his seven-course dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. STL FANATIC
To be fair, that's suburbanism/rural surburbanism in a nutshell. Friggin' Bloomington-Normal, IL is like the chain capital of the world. Lots of great eats in STL, though. JUSTIN STRIEBEL | PORTFOLIO | RESUME | CONTACT
Gothamite
You don't have to take everything quite so personally. rams80
Wait the intern was from Missouri Southern State? WTF man can't you do better than Joplin at least? Island_Style
owners meeting is this week. You should get a pretty good idea of what's going on here shortly. I heard a couple of interesting interviews yesterday on the radio. The rams are gone. Pencil it in. No mystery. They are LA bound. its not official but like the guy from St Louis said what more do you need? How many more signs do you need? Anyone else saying otherwise are in total denial. The interest comes from the Raiders vs the Chargers. From the sounds of the San Diego guy, the city really wants to work with the Chargers. If I were a betting man I would say Raiders and rams in LA and San Diego stays put.

The city really wants them to stay and with the pressure they had put on them, I see something getting done sooner rather than later. The Raiders on the other hand, I see them good as gone. The Rams, it's not a question of if but when at this point.

Gothamite
It does seem the most likely. There's also a lot of potential for selling the two clubs; if it's the Chargers and Raiders or Rams and Chargers, how do you distinguish the two when seling to fans? The Rams/Raiders have a corporate/outsider vibe going on that both teams could exploit. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog. Gothamite
No, the Giants are still blocking the A's from San Jose. Last year the A's signed a 10-year lease. They can opt out as early as 2018 by giving two years' notice and paying the remaining years' rent. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog. If so, how long does that run? Still any rumbling of the heading to San Jose pending the legal spat with the Giants?A's to San Jose is all but dead. The Giants aren't budging and the league seems inclined to let them hold their line. On top of that a transfer of the SJ stadium land from the city to a successor agency has been deemed in violation of the law so it may be thrown out. And SJ has lost 2 court rounds on their anti-trust litigation. On top of that the A's signed a 10 year lease on the Coliseum this off season. The Raiders plan on the other hand is "gurgling blood" and will be dead by July. After that they'll likely announce they're heading to LA probably for 2016.The Warriors are already gone. Their arena plan in SF just got an environmental impact exemption and their only opposition was outed as a couple of malcontent developers, not the grassroots group they claimed to be. They've got full city support (which is nearly unheard of in SF politics). So they'll be in SF by 2018.

Gothamite
Yeah - other than all the details, it's exactly the same. Oh, and less than a quarter of the cost. Take note, St. Louis - this, the most expensive SSS, will cost $250M. Don't waste your money on the NFL when $150M can get you a lovely soccer pitch. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! IceCap
$150 for a sss is still too much, given St. Louis' financial situation.
