Well, Carson still has a lot of work to do to even get ready to build a stadium. They still have to remove tons of toxic waste since their site was a landfill for over 50 years. People keep forgetting about this. Whereas the Inglewood site is literally ready to start building now. Carson would be playing catch up to the Inglewood site.

I think another thing we have to point out is that even though sides have their various supporters, Kronke's supporters are among the most powerful, and wealthy owners in the NFL. Money talks. I can't see Kronke's stadium not being the one approved considering that. He also is willing to take on a partner yet Spanos wants no part of it. I can't help to think that will work against Spanos.

Do we know how Carson will be financed?

Apparently the clean-up will go on as it's being built and won't produce any delays.

This sounds horribly fishy. Huge construction projects attract all kinds of delays; so do environmental cleanup projects. They're going to clean up the waste under the site while they're building? Don't be surprised when they have black goo leeching up onto the field three years after the stadium opens.

This is pretty spot on. It's a bit crude, but I think it fits the tone of this whole thing, which really should be disgust.

So now all three teams have finished their home schedule and all three have been eliminated from playoff contention.

Now the NFL will try to keep their news focus to what's happening on the field until all of Week 17 has been played out...but now that there are no tickets to sell in these three markets for 2015 games, this is about where I expect we're going to start hearing some real heavy talk about relocation to Los Angeles. January is fast-approaching.

It's also incredibly poorly written, but that's Deadspin for you. Whatever point he could be making gets lost under wave after wave of masturbatory rot.

Merry Christmas!

Not really, but to each their own.

I do wish Deadspin would invest in an editor or two. They have some fantastic writers, and some who just can't be trusted to edit their own stuff. Drew first among them.

More than that - they'll want to keep relocation sidelined until after the Super Bowl. Don't know if they'll be able to (watch for the January meeting to be "inconclusive"), but there's no way the NFL will want to sully its grand 50th Super Bowl with such unpleasantness.

Strunk & White is best for learning the rules so that you know how to break them later, but that just speaks to your point: even though they're plainly a descendant of New Journalism, they have a way of tripping over their dicks that Mailer and HST wouldn't have gotten away with.

LA1 and LA2.

The Raiders are number 2.

Sorry, Ad.

Okay so this is probably a terribly stupid question, but how would the abbreviations work if the Rams and Raiders were to both move back? Every where I look it to see what they used in the past its different.

In newspapers I saw them most abbreviated as "LARm" and "LARa." I don't recall how television tended to do it but "RAM" and "RAI" would make sense... I think it'll be "LAC" and "LAR" when all's said and done though.

St. Louis has officially submitted their term sheet. It's largely what I expected. A couple things really eat at me, though.

1. The "Capital Reserve Fund" that will cover costs over runs. That sounds like a fancy name for "public dollars of which we have no idea the source," doesn't it?

2. The $1.5 million annual rent (with 3% annual escalation. That is a SUPER low rent. Wise aldermen called the funding bill sponsors on that a couple of weeks ago. They were told this was just a starting point for negotiations, a floor. Those aldermen knew better and said the starting point should be raised, but they were dismissed. Now here we have the term sheet asking ONLY for that $1.5m (plus escalation). In no way is it presented as a floor. It's all they're asking for in rent.

And then on a more positive note, I'm glad that they're including as one of the terms that the Rams can't balk at the inclusion of the MLS as a tenant. (I know there's doubt over whether the MLS would have interest in this stadium.)

Good on them for including MLS. I've been the one saying that an NFL stadium will never bring a team to St. Louis, but they at least have to try and keep all options open.

Sure does, and if they don't have a funding source for it then this isn't actually a viable plan. You have to presume at least a 10% overrun, don't you? Are they promising that the city will cover that $100,000,000+?

I also noticed that they're including $300M from the G4 program. That's the same money that the NFL already said they can't count on. So no, this isn't a viable plan, and it's probably not a serious one either.
