Wow. That first picture of Kezar Stadium is incredible. I can't believe the people are sitting on the gabled roof. That's got to be a 45 degree angle.

True, but it looks those homes are zero-lot line (i.e. no side yard), so if you slipped down that gabled roof, you wouldn't fall off the roof, just stop where the peaked roof adjoins the adjacent flat roof.

It is what it is.

I don't know if embracing teams to returning to a previous long-term home market (I won't even get into the silly game of where they started) is a road the NFL wants to really go down.

Okay. The Gridbirds shouldn't have moved either. No team should have been allowed to move after the merger.

This whole thread reminds me of this....

And speaking of stadiums, would St. Louis citizens be up for converting the Dome into a pretty big basketball arena for use as an almost permanent Sweet 16™ And semi-regular Final Four™ Venue?

Why would they have to when they can just bring the bleachers in as needed?

Exactly.

Plus Final Four venues now must use the NCAA's own seating system.

Something which St. Louis knows already.

Actually, excavation would be considerably more expensive than building higher above ground level. Teams have done this primarily because they feel it makes for a more intimate experience at the game. The stadium looks less imposing from the outside, it provides better views of the outside world at the game, and it lets the stadium be better incorporated into the neighborhood without completely dwarfing everything else.

I know this was part of the consideration with Camden Yards.  Since the field is below street level, the stadium doesn't dwarf the nearby houses and winds up being basically (if not exactly) the same height as the B&O Warehouse.

This was probably the case with Staples Center as well.  It's already way taller than most arenas because it has three levels of luxury suites plus a really high ceiling because of the banner wall in the one end.

Yeah, San Jose is out.  They've got to worry about the Sharks in the next couple years anyway.

Here's a better look at the site plan for City of Champions:

Why?  Are the Sharks going to want a new arena soon?

ESPN just released a really interesting read on the everything that happened during the relocation to Los Angeles ordeal. My respect for Jerry Jones as a business man, keeps growing and growing.

To add on to this, it does seem like St. Louis Rams fans have a legitimate gripe with the NFL, because it seems like as soon as Kroenke announced the Inglewood stadium, the league preferred that site and high ranking league officials did their best to make sure that site was the one the won the battle in the end.

There is no way they will get a stadium in Oakland, no reason for two football stadiums in the same area hosting 10 football games a year.

Oakland A's response to the announcement of the Raiders 2016 lease.

The Raiders rent will increase, but ticket prices will be same as 2015.

Mark Davis also decided to throw some serious shade, "If, in fact, the A's do want to stay in the Oakland Coliseum site, they need to commit ASAP so that we can go ahead and design and take down the Coliseum, provide all the infrastructure that's necessary to build two brand new stadiums in Oakland and two teams would then come back and play in two brand new stadiums...what it's going to take to get something done on this site and in Oakland, at least on the Coliseum site, is for the A's to make a commitment to Oakland and tell the people what they want to do".

Jerrah was Boss in so many parts of the deal.

To Bidwell son, who was pro-Spanos: "When you guys moved the team from St. Louis to Phoenix -- it wasn’t about the money? You did it for the money.”

After Disney CEO Bob Iger talked to the owners in Houston to tout the Carson plan and mentioned how much money he has given the NFL: "He said he paid us. Last time I checked, that money is coming from Disney shareholders, not him."

But let's not discount how much $$$ Stan Kroenke has since this week he spent $725MM to buy the largest contiguous cattle ranch (& second largest overall) in the US, which also has over 1,100 oil wells on property.

It's infuriating. And pretty clear this was decided long ago. It was just a matter of figuring out how to get enough owners to vote against their guidelines. And with money involved, that was of course no trouble at all.

Jerry Jones and Stan Kroenke are amazing businessmen, but they're absolute garbage human beings.

I get why you're still mad at Kroenke, but what's your beef with Jerry other than you didn't like the outcome?

I don't see that Jones did anything worse than what Jerry Richardson used to do, other than he was good at it and Richardson hurt his own cause.  Is Richardson a "garbage human being" for having a preferred business outcome and working to make it happen?

Well, Richardson was the one who was leading the whole "Build the new stadium on top of an old garbage pit" campaign. :P

The answer is they're all garbage human beings, pretty much. But on a sliding scale.

Jerry isn't a garbage human being just for his role in this situation however. I don't think I need to document his history here.

For that matter, Kroenke isn't just a garbage human being for this situation either. He's a garbage human being for pretty much all the same reasons he's a successful businessman. Basically his entire fortune has been made by screwing people over in the name of money and ego.
