There was a stretch at the start of this decade where it was them and the Cardinals alternating as National League Champions.  I believe that ended in 2015.

I'm a die hard Giants fan. Those years were great but they're horrible now and are headed for a major rebuild. So the post season is a bit of stretch.

They better call themselves the San Francisco Raiders next year.

I haven't been keeping up with baseball over the past few years.  Is Bruce Bochy still the manager?

Yes. Final season most likely with his contract being up.

Hold on a minute, y’all:

Quote

The #49ers would have to waive their territorial rights for the Raiders to play next season in San Francisco. Sources tell me the 49ers have not signed off on this. Also, the NFL would have to approve the move, and that has not occurred, either, according to the sources.

Wuh oh...

If I’m the 49ers, I tell the Raiders to go pound sand.

EDIT: There’s also talk that the Niners won’t give up that territorial right unless the Raiders give them one of their first round draft picks. That seems unlikely, but the Raiders may not have any other choice at this point.

So another year of a dirt infield on the football field?

Nice.

Aren’t Oakland and SF in the same market anyway? Would the territory rights really be any different?

its just funny that a team called “oakland” will be playing in SF, while a team called “SF” will be playing in Santa’s clara.

I believe technically the Niners rights are for SF proper down to the San Jose/Santa Clara area and Oakland was strictly east bay.

Correct. Not unlike in MLB, the Raiders and Niners do not equally share the Bay Area like the 2 LA teams or 2 NY teams do their cities.

If Dean $pano$ wanted a downtown stadium so bad, why didn't he just share Petco Park with the Padres?

Because Petco Park is contractually forbidden from hosting pointy football. It's why you've never seen it played there.

Isn't football played at Oracle Park have both teams on the same sideline?  There's no way the NFL is going to stand for that.

If the league technically considers it a different market, and if they're being sued by Oakland, would the league influence them to change their name (or just be The Raiders)?

For one year?  Eight games?  With no obvious alternative?

I don’t see why not.

Seven games, they have to play a game in London and the preseason games will probably be in Las Vegas. Wouldn't be surprised if it gets knocked down to six somehow.

It used to be that way,but they used both sidelines when Cal played there a few years ago

How much can they backload the home schedule such that they play one actual-home game in the first five or six weeks? But then what if the Giants go deep while the Raiders are there, then what.

Right now, the Giants are on the road on what would be they've Weeks 1 and 3, but they have a Monday night game after Week 1.

Lol, the only thing the Giants are going to “go deep” on this year is themselves.

If they let the Chargers play in a soccer stadium for three years this is nothing.
