If anyone's having trouble with the concept, it's Pierre McGuire. How can he score without "impressive size"?

He obviously hasn't seen Johnny Hockey in the shower...

It'll be interesting. Give me one more Cup and I won't care if they miss the playoffs next year; my expectations will have been beyond met and I get enough joy from the rest of the NHL that I can still stay engaged with the Jets, Islanders, Oilers, whoever else. Look at me, hockey bucfan.

FWIW, I've found that "diversifying my portfolio" has made following sports much more enjoyable.

It's a pretty fufilling life, I must say.

I agree.

Need to see a replay, but live, that looked like a Ducks player pushed Stajan into Andersen.

Yeah, I saw that, too. Let's hope the refs saw it. FOR ONCE.

This is just so depressing. There's not a more arrogant fanbase in the league than Anaheim's and they needed to be taken down a peg or two or fifty.

Damn, you sure did replace the Sharks PDQ.

Give him time. Soon he'll be one of many circle-jerking about San Jose's ineptitude to be good at things.

And really, was anyone surprised that Chicago is making quick work of Minnesota? I mean, kudos to Pommenville and company, they are a growing team and could be a serious challenger in another year or two. But with a healthy Kane to revamp the lineup, anyone not predicting the obvious was giving them a little too much credit. Now Ducks/Hawks is a horserace worth paying for.

Fun fact, McCarthy- Kings/Blackhawks would have been a second round series last year if you reseeded after the first round.

Otherwise, would be the second year in a row we'd have a Wild/Ducks conference semifinal.

One of the downsides to no reseeding is it takes away from scoreboard watching when a series goes seven. It takes away all the possibilities for round 2.

For instance, DET/TB game seven- we all know the winner was going to Montreal. But if you reseeded, Detroit would be playing for a trip to New York.

Last year's round 2 matchups with reseeding would have been MIN/ANA, CHI/LA, BOS/NYR, PIT/MON.

This year- MIN/ANA, CGY/CHI, and the same East matchups.

Um... no. If we were doing straight seeds, the West match-ups would still be the same. Hell, Ducks/Flames would have been the First Round.

TABERNAC!

Plekanec should have put more effort to clear the puck when he was at center ice, instead of tapping it gently into the stick of a Lightning player who then nailed the long pass to Stamkos. The lack of urgency against this top-calibor Lightning team was pathetic.

The Canadiens played like crap tonight. And because of consistent bad plays like this one, they deserved to lose. I am extremely gutted right now.

That was Tyler Johnson's 9th goal of the playoffs already. Yowza.

Still tough to make heads or tails of the Bolts. I still think they're pretty damn good (I picked them to make the Final), but did Detroit just knock their cobwebs out or is this just a horrible match-up for the Habs?

Well the Lightning are 7-0 against the Habs, so I think they just have the Canadiens number. That being said, this team has been galvonized since game 5 against Detroit, so hopefully they keep this run going. Really cool to see them playing well because they were hard to watch against Detroit.

Montreal deserved a far better fate. Vastly outshot Tampa, along with the goal posts, which have been quite vicious towards Montreal on the rare occasion that Bishop (S% in excess of .970 now in this series) has been beaten. From the other side of that game tonight, Montreal played a much better game. The only thing that was equal were the power play units, which, per usual, were atrocious on both sides tonight.

It was more of a mismatch in the regular season, where Tampa Bay outscored Montreal 21-8, but after tonight's robbery, Tampa is now 8-0 against the Habs this season. There was some lingering bitterness about the way the playoff series went down a year ago and, by g-d, they have been on a mission head-to-head ever since. I have to imagine no team has ever gone 9-0 against the Habs in a single season, and/or gone 5-0 at the Bell Centre, and Tampa is one win away from doing just that.

If Tampa and Washington meet in the ECF, that will be a much tougher series for the Lightning. Washington's strengths match up decently well with Tampa Bay's weaknesses. I'd much prefer New York, and I've said as much all along with respect to that series, and with respect to the idea of meeting Washington in the playoffs entirely.
