Rite of Spring '15: exhume our idols! bury our friends!

So do what players/coaches do...stay off social media outlets during the game, then have a 15-minute cool-down session after the game (especially losses).

Tnak found a way to mellow out after games. If he can do it, anyone can.

I picked Rangers over Hawks from Day 1. Fingers crossed this works out.

You and I both brother.

Of course my preference is Ducks versus the East, but I have a funny feeling life isn't gonna work out that way Saturday night when I'll be forced to tolerate the sea of fans I'll see on Division St. That being said, I have a prediction for each game.

East: I think the Rangers hold off the Bolts at home, gaining the lead in the second by a score of 2-1 and ultimately pulling it out 3-2. Game winning goal by...let's say McDonagh, which may or may not be in overtime. This is the series I haven't caught quite as much so I feel less confident.

West: Hawks carpe noctem off of yesterday's win, pull off a 3-2 win, though this time it's in regulation. Game is tied at 1-1 through two, when Ducks get the lead via Kesler midway through the third. However, the duo of Toews and Teuvo get a pair of goals late, a la Boston in 2013, to snatch the game back and take a flight to NYC.

Either way, both series have been an anomaly, not only in the matchups themselves, but the vibe all fans are getting as to who is supposedly better. I'd have no clue in terms of that Finals though.

"And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday."

If you're a Sharks fan, you have no business whatsoever rooting for the rival Ducks, do you? Sunbelt Solidarity even extends to Illinois, I guess.

Like I said before, it's picking the poison. And I don't like your guys, so that's all there is to it really. Too many people around here are getting smug. But alas, that's a topic for a different thread.

Also, amidst all the people bandwagoning for New York, I can't believe the majority - on a sports logos site of all places - went with the NYR primary shield. Nobody went with the Winter Classic, my favorite, or the Lady Liberty head or even a wordmark.

Actually, I take that back, I think one person did use the wordmark. But still, when people did that Hydra thing, at least they did different versions of it.

I was just thinking how badly it would suck for Sharks fans if the Ducks actually pull this off.

Nah, California fans tend to just jerk each other off over how great they all are. The Ducks blew a 3-2 lead to the Kings and everyone was just like "hey, that was fun, Cali hockey takin' over"

That's something I do disagree with for #sunbeltsolidarity.

I wouldn't cheer for the Kings or Sharks to win because it benefits California hockey. But there are some fans of those teams cheering for the Ducks because "hey that was fun, Cali hockey takin' over." It may be different for me though because there's less of an attachment between the greater good of California hockey to me than fans of the other California teams.

I also wouldn't cheer for the Oilers, and to a lesser extent the Flames, to win just because "Alberta boys takin' the cup back to the plains" or whatever.

No. No we didn't and would never.

I'm perfectly happy with the Sharks having zero Cups. I was ecstatic to beat the 2009 Presidents Trophy Sharks as an 8-seed. I was borderline livid losing that series to the Kings in that fashion on home ice to end Teemu's career then see those asshats go on to win a third Game 7 and another Cup.

None of what you said really exists here. There are those "oh I root for both!" people, but they're a small minority that should be lit on fire.

No.

A friend of mine who's a Ranger fan calls those their Planet of the Apes jerseys. I enjoy that.

I don't know if I should change my avatar to a Lighting one now........

But I want a Stanley Cup challenge here on the boards.

After the Finals have been decided, those who partipate will chose between the Ducks/Blackhawks or Lighting/Rangers.

If one side loses, they have to change their avatar to the winning teams for a week.

You're too young to gamble.

Any Tampa fans on here? Curious to know what the assessment is versus the winner in the West.
