Yeah, I'll take that. Ugly game that Tampa should've won but 1-0 is 1-0. Blackhawks are absurd and I love it.

Second game where Vermette and Teuvo combined for late heroics. And to think Q healthy-scratched both of them last round!

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

To paraphrase Harry Neale after Kirk McLean stole game 1 of the '94 Cup Final: "Corey Crawford- he saved your life tonight."

Crawford is the guy damn near everyone loves to razz- THEY WIN IN SPITE OF HIM, HE'S A PRODUCT OF A STACKED TEAM, HE'D SUCK ON A LESS TALENTED TEAM.

And somehow, he keeps winning

EDIT: I'm leaving the double post because double-screw you for that nonsense, Quenneville.

I'll be honest: I watched and rooted on my Blackhawks religiously last year, but this year I've been dedicating most of my primetime TV time to watching a newly-rejuvenated Cubs team and hence relegating myself to sort of a backseat Blackhawks fan.

That said, the Cubs were not playing good baseball tonight so I prioritized the Blackhawks, and damn did they deliver. Teravainen was nothing short of extraordinary in that third period, and that Vermette goal was an absolute snipe. The defense and Crawford performed extremely well and held the Lightning to only a few really good chances; it's great to see a team fire on all cylinders and come from behind like that, especially when it's not the stars but the unlikely heroes who deliver the deciding blows.

Definitely looking forward to the rest of the series and am hoping to see Chicago carry that level of play into Saturday's contest.

Go Hawks!

How about Kris Versteeg cracking his face open on a metal pole and taking a penalty on it?

How about Quenneville telling the assembled press "Oh, absolutely, we followed concussion protocol, he doesn't have one" with a damn Cheshire Cat grin?

Not regionally related but...

We all know the Lightning went through three Original Six teams to get to the Finals, dispatching the Red Wings, Canadiens, and Rangers. Well the Hawks went through three 1990s expansion teams to get here. They beat the Perds, Wild, and Ducks. Either way? This season's Stanley Cup Champion will have gone through four of a kind.

Do the Wild really count as a 90s expansion team, though? They started playing in the 2000-01 season.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)
