Bad as the new marks are, they're still an upgrade.

I didn't think you could top the Thunder's logo, but this did.

The NBA is the worst.

Its close but no, the Thunder still have the worst logo. That thing is an abomination.

You know what just occured to me Steve Balmer is computer sufficent and knows about internet leaks and trademark leaks. What is this is a red herring covering up the real new look?

Is that wishful thinking on my part or is it possible?

Considering that this is the same guy who doesn't know how to give a high five, I seriously doubt it. I think this is just a matter of a brilliant eccentric who has very little grasp on what is good aesthetically. Things like that seem to happen a lot with these super geniuses. For as smart as they are, they tend to be pretty socially retarded.

The NBA is easily the most polarizied sports league I know of in terms of design. Teams like Boston and Cleveland are among the most attractive teams in sports, whereas teams like OKC and the new Clippers are among the absolute ugliest.

I think whoever said this on Basically a Sports Show was absolutely right. Some management are so hellbent on corporate greed that they are willing to pay for people who are nowhere up to par for the job, in order to just save money. I think the same can apply when it comes to hiring a design firm as well. They were so cheap that they hired anyone just to slap together a quick 5-minute MS Paint job and called it a day. They don't even care about the quality of their own branding.

I agree Cleveland has an attractive identity for the most part, but they can't seem to figure out what their real color combo is, or which logo and word mark to use. You could throw them in with Phoenix, Utah, (maybe Atlanta), and up til recently Washington, as NBA teams with confused identities. The NBA has gotten a little out of control with new logos and word marks being added year after year with little thought or regulation.

I love this design (I really wanted them to get back to their nautical origins!), but I still dislike the red. (Never been a fan of red, white and blue with the Clippers. Love the SD set.) I've always wanted to see what it would look like if their third color was sand/tan. Unfortunately, for your design, tan/sand isn't distinct enough to work. (Maybe orange?)

Though I agree with some others' comments, I'd be ecstatic if yours was the actual rebrand. With so many NBA rebrands lately being mostly bad with some good mixed in (the Wizards being an obvious exception), this is a proposal that's mostly outstanding. Here's hoping we're not stuck with that late 80s "we didn't pay to use the official uniform so here's this mock-up" uniform set that's been leaked.

Did Colorwerx ever confirm that this is the terrible rebrand he was warning us about? Just imagine if there's something worse coming down the pike!

I guess he was talking about asthetics.

I'm a simple person, I have a pixelated David Beckham as profile photo since 2010.

Both teams are incredibly basic uniform-wise, just like the Yankees. To me, that doesn't make a modern team attractive. They don't look bad, but lets not kid ourselves. These are the basic b**ches of sports, not super models.

He could be socially retarded, or he could just be an older guy who says "Dah, I don't know anything about sports design" and goes with whatever the designers told him was hip with the kids these days. Balmer was certainly a fool for choosing such crap, but some :censored: designed that package and proudly presented it to him.
