smith03
well remember the wolves did build target center in the first place, they hoped or assumed that at some point the north stars would have to/ be forced to /want to moved downtown, again part of the reason we have an nba arena and nhl arena a few miles apart each team wants to be "#1" in the arena Quote Just say NO to gray facemasks. monkeypower
For the admiral:Shane Doan was voted the greatest Coyote in team history in an NBC Sports poll, beating out Jeremy Roenick and Keith Tkachuk.http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2014/08/10/fanspeak-doan-voted-greatest-coyote-in-franchise-history/
The_Admiral
I don't expect anything else from them, though it does bear mentioning that Jeremy Roenick also threatened not to play rather than play in Winnipeg. Lee.
Fitting that Mr Coyote would be the guy who said, "the team can't go to Winnipeg, I have a no move clause in my contract." 1 Quote Welcome to DrunjFlix

kiwi_canadian
So just read this on The Hockey News... Apparently the current business model in Florida isn't working and the mayor of Broward County said they've hired a consultant to see if it makes sense to get out of the arena lease early so the Panthers could relocate if the option presented itself.http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/panthers-being-panthers-owner-vinnie-viola-met-one-coaching-candidate-dont-need-to-see-anyone-else/
Gothamite
Holy crap!Currently, the Panthers are seeking a greater share of Broward Countys bed tax which are levied on tourists to the area. The hockey team receives 16 percent of that tax right now and is seeking an increase to about one-third, or 33 percent. Those who oppose a greater share going towards the Panthers want the money used on the beaches, which is a greater tourist draw than the arena. We estimate that about 30,000 room nights are related to all events at the arena (concerts) annually. We have over 8 million room nights per year sold, the countys Nicki Grossman told the Miami Herald earlier this year.So the Panthers get a cut on every single hotel room booked? What a racket. Cosmic
See, this is why I'm not a successful businessman... I have shame. If I was generating 0.4% of the room nights, but was receiving 16% of the bed tax money, I would just shut up and hope that no one realized how ridiculous it was. I *certainly* wouldn't try to scam my way into double the amount of money. But that's just me.

Sodboy13
Yes, and Tampa came about it legitimately: by Japanese fake-corporate ownership acting as a front for the Yakuza! It still amazes me that the only reason this league has Florida and Anaheim in the first place is that Bruce McNall baited Wayne Huizenga and Michael Eisner into a dick-measuring contest, as part of his efforts to stave off the inevitable.
