NHL Anti-Thread: Bad Business Decision Aggregator

I hope Bettman has finally learned that just because a city is a place to have a 2nd home or a timeshare does not mean its a viable city for an NHL franchise.

That seems to be the most "logical" "reason" why the league has fought tooth-and-nail to keep the Coyotes in Phoenix.

Glendale mayor just went on the radio. He's willing to keep the Coyotes in Glendale, "but not on the backs of the taxpayers" and he also thinks it'll take a miracle to keep them in Glendale. He's also not going to entertain the current lease deal with anyone beyond tonight, he flat out said it was a bad deal. Says the team needs to support itself, not the city.

I like this guy.

I do, too. Nothing wrong with wanting to keep the team around so long as Glendale's taxpayers aren't the ones throwing money into a financial black hole. However, if no one wants to buy the team and take on the associated financial liabilities themselves, then it's time for Glendale to let go.

I can't wait for Quebec City to join the Pacific Division.

I feel like this would be the only way we'd see a minor re-alignment. That Quebec and Winnipeg would swap divisions no questions asked to atleast make it a little more reasonable.

If you're going to realign, might as well do it properly.

Just rotate Phoenix, Winnipeg, and a third team to tide us over before the league stupidly expands to Seattle and Other Place.

I, for one, eagerly await the inaugural season of the Toronto Fighting Mongooses.

I hope the Leafs make the playoffs this year so that everyone west of Guelph can shut up about being an "underserved market" and put their old Mats Sundin sweaters back on with pride. The Passion That Unites Us All!

I'm watching Jets @ Panthers. There is virtually no one sitting in the lower bowl on the bench side between the blue lines, a/k/a the best seats in the house. I did some research and apparently it's become something called "Club Red," where you buy access to a brand-new super-swanky mega-suite for one-percenters, where you can hang out and be rich or go to the seats and watch the game. Which, clearly, no one does. So to the average viewer who isn't conversant with the ever-monetizing ways of Michael Yormark, it looks like no one can be bothered to go to Panthers games. What a way to run a railroad.

I mean, the hell is this? Don't they realize it looks really bad?

They own the Panthers. Their common sense is already shot.

I'd like to think that one percenters in the Miami area have better things to do then drive through a swamp and watch the Panthers.

I'd certainly pick doing blow off the ass of a young Latina over the Panthers.

In all fairness, Michelson (an ASU alum) shot a 60 today in Scottsdale and lipped out on 18 in the process. He should have gone 59, if not lower. There have only been five rounds of 59 in PGA Tour history. We've all known for months the cash was not there.

I just... *sigh*

I figured the center was empty because anyone who really wanted to go to a game would just buy the $7-per-game/free parking/free jersey combo, but of course it had to be more ridiculous than that, because it's the Panthers.

I fully expect by next season, it'll be renamed the jetBlue Business Class Extended Legroom Section, Presented By Currency Exchange.

Don't blame the 16th hole for outdrawing them on Saturday.

So if Phoenix finally goes bye bye who is the next team that steps into their shoes as the punching bag and butt of jokes?

I'd have to guess Columbus.
