TheOldRoman 1,292 Posted June 19, 2013 I'm thrilled that Glendale has apparently wised up and this may be it for the Coyotes. I'm much less thrilled about them setting up a slapdash team in Seattle, rushing jersey/logos which will make the OKC Thunder's logo look like a painstaking design, and playing their games in a local ice rink.
IceCap 22,601 Posted June 19, 2013 Well leave it to the NHL to screw up relocating the Coyotes.Still Seattle will be better then Glendale. If they can get a new rink it might even pay off in the long run. If not, well that would be hilariously sad…

We may have a Tennessee Oilers situation for this upcoming season.

JayMac 3,875 Posted June 19, 2013 Serious note... Are coyotes in Seattle/Washington?I believe there are. So in reality, you could keep the name.

Hathaway Browne 2 Posted June 19, 2013 Serious note... Are coyotes in Seattle/Washington?Apparently, yes according to this map:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Coyote_subspecies_distribution_map.svgThere's a specific subspecies - the Northwest Coast Coyote.

Lee. 419 Posted June 19, 2013 No.I'm hoping for a navy/teal/neon green color scheme, and maybe a repurposing of the Ironmen or Totems monicker(s). Then again, I worry about such things. And yeah, there are coyotes all up and down the west coast. We had a bunch that would come into the yard when we lived up on the hill here in Penticton. Scrubby looking bastards, each and every one of them.
NJTank 1,129 Posted June 19, 2013 Totems would be good too
Hathaway Browne 2 Posted June 19, 2013 Might have been asked before, but any hurdles on potential new names for a Seattle team? As an example from above - does anyone in the area own the "Totems" nickname? Not that they'd use it, but what if they wanted to use 'Pilots'; would they have to get permission from MLB?
rams80 4,278 Posted June 19, 2013 Might have been asked before, but any hurdles on potential new names for a Seattle team? As an example from above - does anyone in the area own the "Totems" nickname? There is a small time junior league team that currently uses the name. It probably would not take much to get them to slap a "Jr." somewhere in the name.
Kramerica Industries 2,076 Posted June 19, 2013 Well, then, I guess that one episode of Frasier that had the Crane's all scared off by a coyote wasn't all that far off the mark then.

bosrs1 1,290 Posted June 19, 2013 So the Glendale council met last night to consider Renaissance's pitch for how they've found $9.5 million more in revenues to share to move the arena management subsidy from $6.5 million to $15 million. The response was, shall we say, underwhelming? Alvarez walked out.http://www.azcentral...ils-excite.htmlThe important information is that there doesn't seem to be the momentum and will to get a vote on this before the NHL's benchmark date of 27 June. Who blinks first? So was it really the city manager in Glendale that brokered this "deal" with the NHL. Because it sure doesn't seem like the Glendale council is all that enthusiastic about it. Which doesn't surprise me since all of the new members ran on a turning down this kind of deal platform.

Which doesn't surprise me since all of the new members ran on a turning down this kind of deal platform. They don't have a city manager currently, they have an "acting" city manager, who took over in March because the "interim" manager resigned at the same time the city attorney did. The "acting" manager was formerly the city manager in Scottsdale. Their search process for a full time one is out of control since one of their two finalist removed himself from the search, leaving the only candidate a woman who has dealt with a population a third the size of Glendale. .
