I will say this. If the NHL goes to Seattle, it is imperative for the league to get control of a hypothetical new arena and then absolutely refuse to give a lease to an NBA team. A Sonics revival is not in its best interests.

Not possible. The hypothetical arena is being built by the guys trying to bring the NBA to Seattle. Hockey is always going to be a secondary consideration even with a team at Key Arena. That said a secondary consideration Coyotes in Seattle are better than the no consideration Coyotes in Glendale.

No, not really. I'd rather the NHL not be a catspaw for some effort to secure a basketball team.

You say that like the NHL hadn't sacrificed its dignity long ago.

At what point in the space time continuum has the NHL ever had some dignity to begin with?

The NHL still has more shreds than the Arena League. Talk with them.

I remember thinking the NHL was the bee's knees in the late 90s.

In all honestly, the NHL became the Big East of pro sports once ESPN dumped it.

RSE is unwilling to grant city the early termination clause they want.

But at least those poor hockey fans are being offered a seat. That's nice of the Glendale council.

Yeah, the Mayor is telling the crowd to make room for people who are standing because there are plenty of seats available. Like it's a bloody middle school assembly.

The arena league isn't a "Big 4" league either and is more of a circus sideshow to fill dates at arenas. It's a small step above things like that PASL-Pro.

Frankly I'd much rather the NHL be "catspaw" as you call them than continue the charade in Glendale that people who live where it's 110 during the day care about ice hockey.

Welp, RSE invoked the firefighters and is dropping random numbers to indicate the team will be a financial success. If the council folds on the out clause issue they should be executed for gross public malfeasance.

Why would they invoke the firefighters? And which ones did they invoke. Invoking Glendale's is a bad move because they'll take even bigger cuts WITH the team than they will without it, the city's own analysis backs that. And if they brought up the 19 who died they should be dragged out of that meeting and beaten.

Didn't someone post an article a while back about how the firefighters' annual parade had to be cancelled because of budget cuts at the hands of subsidising the Coyotes' losses?

They cancelled the Stanley Cup final in 1919 because of the Spanish flu pandemic... that was classy of them.

Only because players were affected and it was a simpler time. HRR wasn't invented yet.

Are you kidding me? What a bunch of no class :censored:tards. What was the context they brought them up, not that ANY is acceptable when they're begging to suck money from the public teat.
