NHL Anti-Thread: Bad Business Decision Aggregator

There is some precedent for that. Arena Football's Indiana Firebirds were going to be sold for $6 million, but the expansion fee for the league was $25M, so the Firebirds got nuked. Not sure that the NHL wants to be following in the footsteps of the Arena Football League, though!

The latest Forbes ranking of NHL team values has the Coyotes dead last at $285 million.

That puts the Coyotes within a few million of being equivalent in value to the net worth of Gordon Ramsay.  Ask the NHL - would you rather exclusively own Gordon Ramsay in all professional capacities and have around $10M in loose cash to line some pockets and keep the lights on?  Or would you prefer to have, ya know, the Coyotes?

It should be getting very hard to deny Quebec City its place in the league. "Detroit has to have road games against Chicago and St. Louis instead of Tampa and Ottawa" shouldn't suffice anymore. It will, of course, but it shouldn't.

Again, if this all sounds a little familiar, right down to the "We're gonna sue the bastards" at the end...

"Champions of diversity, equity, and inclusion," didn't they draft a guy who shoved urinal cakes in a disabled black kid's mouth just because John Chayka told them not to and they were mad at him?

Finally got around to reading that piece. A lot of their business model seems to be stiffing vendors and then arguing the vendors down to rock bottom prices. Where have I seen that play before?

Sodboy said as much, these grifting pieces of crap all seem to follow the same playbook.

You're hearing it more and more. People can't stop talking about it! Many are saying it's the best business model. It's true. And I think you're really gonna like it.

No, by cross-promotion with the furry community. Watch a Coyotes game, sell hardcore porn art commissions to absurdly-wealthy clients, try to eliminate the zoophiles from the main group, and engage in sexual activities in the concourses!

Spoiler alert: the Coyotes' front office are likely a bunch of furries who want drawings of Kachina Coyote fornicating with the Florida Panther. They'll pay good money for it.

Hanging out with a lot of furries online has taught me so much about the fandom and the various intricacies it has. One of the big things I took away from that is that there are a lot of absurdly-wealthy furries who will pay good money for porn art.

I know it's a traditional mascot design, but at the end of the day, it's a freakin' fursuit. It's just less flamboyant that the average fursuit.

Now take a look at good old Badaboum. There's no sexual valence whatsoever to this alleged river otter. He has googly eyes from an arts and crafts store. Good wholesome fun for the family. Though the phallic symbolism here is impossible to ignore...

I dunno, dude had an addiction to painkillers.,,and also got shot and run off the road in Vegas once. Wouldn't call a painkiller-addicted seal/otter/blue furry thing "wholesome".

Granted, Carlton literally killed another mascot...though maybe offing Nyisles was a mercy killing.
