Hey guys!

I think I have a great idea, and i want all of you to be apart of it. I want this to be fun and enjoyable for everyone who participates.

I have come up with a fictional basketball league called the "United States Premier Basketball League" or "USPBL" for short.

Yes i know there are a lot of these but i wanted to try my hand at it with suggestions from all of you.There are 12 cities, 6 teams, 2 conferences and i want you guys to submit nicknames for these cities. I'm still working on the backstory for this league but i want to start getting you guy's suggestions ASAP. The 12 cities i chose were (I have already chosen their conferences) ;

Albuquerque, New Mexico- WEST
Norfolk, Virgina - EAST
Boise, Idaho - WEST
Tucson, Arizona - WEST
El Paso, Texas - WEST
Omaha, Nebraska - WEST
Austin, Texas - EAST
Birmingham, Alabama - EAST
Las Vegas, Nevada - WEST
Louisville, Kentucky - EAST
Little Rock, Arkansas - EAST
Daytona Beach, Florida - EAST
The logo for the league is pictured below. The first thing that will probably be noticed is the obvious nod to the United States with the (Red, White, Blue) color scheme. The next thing is the 6 stars in the Blue "U" and 6 stripes in the Red "S", those represent the 6 teams in each conference and there respective color (NBA esque) and last would be the black background it just made it pop for me. I kept it simple and didn't want to over do it.

I'm looking forward to everyone's participation and input.
Thanks for looking :)

Edit: i do plan to make logos and uniforms
EDIT 2: Voting closed: thanks to everyone who participated

your choices for these teams after voting are as followed;

Albuquerque - Desert Dogs

Norfolk- Captains

Boise- Thunderbirds

Tucson- Saguaros

El Paso- Stars

Omaha- Stampede

Austin- Outlaws

Birmingham- Vipers

Las Vegas- Aces (changed to "Silver Aces" because "Aces" was too plain)

Louisville- Riders

and of course i chose the Little Rock and Daytona team names

again a big thanks for your votes these concepts will be a lot of fun :)

Sweet, Little Rock, don't see it in many threads, if any. How about the Little Rock Diamonds or Arkansas Diamonds since Arkansas is home to the world's only diamond-bearing site accessible to the public?

The logo looks good, however, at a quick glance I thought this was a bowling league, but basketball works too. I'm real excited about this.

yea i live in arkansas so i wanted to show love to our capital and i really do think we could support a team in that city. i think we had a minor league baseball team (or still have) called the diamonds actually. ill look into adding a basketball to that logo in a place that it doesnt seem just stuck on or floating in nowhere

please keep up the feedback a suggestions :)

Norfolk Clippers/Vessels- Transportation history. Seal.

Louisville Gatekeepers/Rivermen- City nicknames

Daytona Beach Bashers- I've been to Daytona Beach and it's pretty crazy there. It's a play on words Daytona.....Beach Bashers. Daytona Beach......Bashers.

Boise Boisean- Demonym

i really like those nicknames for Louisville i feel either of those could work and they are going straight to the top of the list as for Norfolk i dont really want to copy an NBA team or just pluralize a word for them but i will try and work the navy into their design some kind of way i just need the perfect nickname (i was thinking Seal/Seals, Portsman, or Sailors ). The Demonym for Boise just doesnt sound good to me (lame i know) but what about something to do with potatoes or farming maybe (Pealers or something in that area) . i like the wordplay with Daytona but it just doesnt sound/look practical as a logo in my head.

How about the Daytona Centuries, Five Basketball Players, five Centuries, Daytona 500...

i see the theme with 5 but what else is there?

How about Las Vegas Kings? pay tribute to the King Elvis! Lol imagine Elvis dribbling while making his pose, I am just throwing out some ideas even fun ones!

With Las Vegas you could try something off a playing card, you know like a knight or a king or ace or something. Then Las Vegas I think also has a pretty rich air force history in the surrounding area, maybe something with jets or again, aces?

For Tuscon there's plenty of Arizona-y nicknames. Saguoros are a good one, I'm surprised there's never been a Roadrunners team.

I think Saguoros would be a good name for the Tuscon team.

Phoenix has been home to three different hockey teams that went by the Roadrunners name.

Albuquerque Osos

Tucson Rays

El Paso Peppers

Omaha Bison

Austin Lone Stars

Las Vegas Aces

Daytona Beach Tsunamis or Hurricanes

Not sure on Norfolk, Birmingham, Louisville, or Little Rock. It seems as if your goal was to put the team locations in places no NBA teams currently reside in, good approach. I look forward to this series!

Also, great league logo.

great idea man i do like it i keep it in mind

Norfolk Carriers?

Must be a zombie or hazardous theme team?

i would think that Albuquerque would have a hazardous theme seeing as they are the epicenter of the United States Nuclear Weapon Manufacturing and home to a Nuclear Lab

Roadrunner is one of the first names i thought of :)
