As for the name, it's one of the worst names in big-time pro sports. Maybe the worst. Definitely the worst in the NHL.

No, that would be Blue Jackets.

On-topic, rename them the Timberwolves. The NBA's Timberwolves can clear the way by moving to Seattle or somewhere where they're not like the #6 attraction in town. Ack, it's too late. Once Wiggins and Towns mature all the phonies that jumped ship after 2005 will come out of the woodwork (on non-Wild nights after the Vikings are out of season) and claim that they loved them all along.

Uh... Huskies?

Has anyone thought of a name Minnesota can use while still keeping their genius logo?

This will NEVER happen but it was wishful thinking on my part that had the Nashville Predators been moved during their attendance struggles and went with a new name, the "Predators" name would be perfect for Minnesota and their current logo - Minnesota Predators.

Yes, it's a lame singular name. Yes, I hate it. But it's been around for 15 years. A brand has been built. Just keep it.

It's an apples and oranges situation but if the historic but politically and racially incorrect Redskins name be likely changed in the near future, so can the worst name in major pro sports...the Wild.

Like all franchise relocations, it would have been better for the old nickname to have been left in Minnesota, and Dallas come up with something else. The new franchise in Minnesota could have brought back the North Stars name, which is vastly superior to the "Wild". Whether a voluntary act by ownership, or required by a league, it just makes more sense. When the old New Orleans Jazz moved, Utah could have called themselves the Grizzlies. If Seattle gets another NBA club, it should rightfully be called the SuperSonics.
