I don't understand how people thought the Redskins were going to win. The Packers aren't good, but they have Aaron Rodgers, and having Aaron Rodgers is good enough to beat most teams.

I thought Washington was going to win because they looked good in the final weeks and the Packers looked terrible, and were a referee gift/hail mary away from being 9-7.

That's the thing though, during that 4-game winning streak, they were only beating bad teams. They beat Chicago, Buffalo, Philly and Dallas. Not exactly playoff caliber teams.

Fair enough, but I'm a Bills fan so I overrate the teams that beat them. And also, the Skins' win over Buffalo was dominant. I assumed a team playing well at home against team playing poorly everywhere would have the advantage. Shows how different the playoffs are.

Apparently, the officials missed a crucial call last night. Joey Porter was not suppose to be on the field last night.

Rule 13.1.2:

Either or both team attendants and their helpers may enter the field to attend their team during a team timeout by either team. No other non-player may come on the field without the Referee’s permission, unless he is an incoming substitute (5-2-2). During any team timeout, all playing rules continue in force. Representatives of either team are prohibited from entering the field unless they are incoming substitutes, or team attendants or trainers entering to provide for the welfare of a player, and any game-type activities are prohibited on the Field of Play."

Porter should have been called for an unsportsmenlike conduct penalty, which would have offset Jones' penalty.

As a Bengals fan since 1979, I can say that last night's classless performance may have just convinced me to completely emotionally disconnect with this team.

Through the '80's, it was exciting to watch them, because you knew that there was always a chance. Then the '90's came, but it was at a time that I was so much into pro football that I couldn't be unsupportive of my team, yet they somehow convinced me to be. Then came the new era under Marvin Lewis. Always starting off hot, getting hurt, then making it to the playoffs. One and done, every time. My wife of 20 years thanked me this morning for not getting worked up about last nights loss, like I would have early in our marriage. She said "thank you for be mature about it".

Then I got to thinking, was I being more mature, or do I have so much emotional scar tissue, that I don't feel anything anymore?

My takeaways from this week...

  • Houston (or anyone from the AFC South) should have never made the playoffs to begin with.
  • Being a Cincinnati sports fan is the most depressing thing to be, right after Cleveland and Buffalo.
  • Seattle got lucky (again). I believe the weather played an obvious factor in the game, but man, you still almost had it, Minnesota.
  • Green Bay beat an average-at-best Washington team. They will get beaten considerably by Arizona next week.

This weekend shows that perhaps we should consider giving home field to wild cards...maybe if they are two games better than a division champion or something.

Yes, we know. You're about the 2,214,955th person to make this observation.

Pretty much. I'm surprised the Packers won that easily.

No, we really shouldn't. The current set up is fine. Weird stuff just happens sometimes.

Here are my predictions for next weekend.

Steelers at Broncos

On his way to Sports Authority Field Sunday morning, Broncos backup quarterback Brock Osweiler hits a patch of black ice and T bones a 2016 Buick Verano, which is being driven by Broncos starting quarterback Peyton Manning. Both ruled out of the game (Osweiler due to an injury sustained in the crash, Manning due to not having enough bus fare to cover the remaining sixteen blocks to the stadium). Third string quarterback Trevor Siemian comes in, stinks up the joint, and the steelers win an UGLY one on a last minute Landry Jones rushing touchdown.

Steelers over Broncos 9-7

Chiefs at Patriots

Chiefs give up a touchdown on the opening kickoff, and the Patriots pick up a fumble for another score on the ensuing kickoff. By the time Alex Smith touches the ball, it's already a 14-0 Patriots lead, and he immediately remembers that he's Alex Smith and that his coach is Andy Reid. He throws a pick six, and they call the game right then and there because, really, what's the point? Gronk spikes a Native American, but it's ok because, Arizona, and :censored:.

Pats over Chiefs 21-0

Seahawks at Panthers

Panthers channel their inner 2010 Atlanta Falcons, and Seahawks continue to channel their inner whatever the hell this is

RussellWilson.gif?1390178847

Seahawks dismantle the stunned Panthers 45-6

Packers at Cardinals

Carson Palmer shatters his hip after being spooked by fireworks during team intros. Drew Stanton is rendered unable to play because he can't find his helmet. Matt Barkley feels most comfortable completing passes to Clay Matthews because, well, at least he knows who this Clay Matthews is. He saw him around the USC campus once or twice. Nice guy. Digs his flowing locks, man.

Packers top Cards 12-10.

There is an obvious omission...four-team town, title-free since 1991.

Nice exaggeration. Your team still won, yes? Don't be upset that your team was handed a lucky break.

If the Packers win today, and they will, then every home team in the first round will lose until Saturday when the Imperial Forces in Foxboro humiliate the Chiefs.

You're underestimating the power of the Andy Reid. Self humiliation is boiling over... he's due.

That Walsh gag was epic. I was at work, & nearly fell over when I eventually learned the distance. 27 yarder when it matters, shanked... completely unacceptable.

Laces in is laces in, yet c'mon.

Your winners next wkend: New England, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, & Seattle.
