Rebranding of Cardinals, Seahawks is the model for what the NFL wants to do with a franchise in Los Angeles.

Any thoughts on where they might go with each of the Raiders, Rams, and Chargers?

For the Chargers, I think they would just need to finally go all out with the powder blue.(Although a complete re-brand such as a name change might be in order)

For the Rams, an update of the uniforms they wore in LA/The greatest show on turf days. Personally I thought these uniforms had a tendency to look a little too garish at times. I also did not like the contrast in the helmet blue and uniform blue.

For the Raiders, well I can't see anything changing given the history of the franchise and probable pushback from fans.

Chargers could try powder blue and old gold á la UCLA.

Rams could look good with royal blue and old gold, if they don't go back to athletic gold.

Raiders don't need to change a thing, especially with the success of Straight Outta Compton.

None of the names will change. You don't throw away 50+ years of history (or more) on a whim.

Besides, if the Chargers move, the conceit will be "their old fans can just drive up I-5 to see them."

The Raiders, for their part, have a near-perfect brand. Would be stupid to mess with that.

The only rebrand that would make sense is new uniforms for the Rams. But hopefully that bears no resemblance to the rebrands of the Cardinals or Seahawks; all the Rams need is a return to their classic royal and gold, with minor tweaks for modern templates and materials.

That would be my suspicion.

There used to be a mismatch between the Giants' helmets and jerseys, but when they unveiled the retro set they had lightened the helmets with a sparkle finish to make the two match more closely:

No reason they can't do that with the Rams' classic helmets.

I think they could really make the Rams ugly if they want to go crazy with a rebrand.

I think they could really make the Rams ugly if they didn't change a single thread.

Best bet is to update the classic uniforms for the modern template. I posted a rough draft a while ago, but I think yellow numbers trimmed in blue would look good on the white jerseys. The Raiders' uniforms shouldn't be changed at all. If it's a matter of updating the Chargers, screw it, use volt and matte and all the worst tricks in the Nike book; their being in L.A. in the first place would already mean the bad guys won.

Chargers powder primaries.

Rams definitely throwback to former LA colours, either dark blue & whites or dark blue & yellows. Rams' blue & whites would look outstanding for the NFL landscape; I've never been a huge fan of the Rams' circus looking branding.

Raiders... only conceivable change for Los Angeles I could fathom is a possible alt shiny silver helmet; not as shiny as Notre Dame, yet as shiny as 49ers' golds. I know be careful what one wishes for, though they could rock those whenever playing in state rivals.

Howabout Rams keep the gold, but switch the navy for royal? Off the top of my head I can't think of any royal and vegas gold teams in the major sports leagues. They'd need to bring back the gold pants though.

I can't imagine that looking good. Too drab, just in a different way from how the St. Louis stuff is drab. It's like keeping navy but going back to athletic gold: you have to commit to one or the other. I'd just go back.

Not sure I agree with that. Everything we're hearing from San Diego fans is they will absolutely shun the team if it moves north. The Chargers have 50 years of history but it has nothing to do with LA.

Plus they already play close enough to LA that to some it wouldn't necessarily seem like "LA's team", just San Diego's moving a bit north.

Except for, you know, starting the franchise as the Los Angeles Chargers.

It's where I sit.
