I always liked the concept, but the color usage and number fonts really ruined it for me.

1.  Go with a number font that more closely resembles the wordmark.

2.  Put MARLINS on the white jersey.  I really don't mind when teams put the city on all jerseys, but I think just from an aesthetic standpoint it would look good on the white.  I'd prefer MIAMI on all others, including the orange, but that's not a big deal.

3.  I always was a fan of the white wordmark on the gray jersey.  THey just need to use it more.

7.  I'm warming up to the heavy use of black, but I think the design would look fantastic if they elevated blue or teal to primary status and relegated black to trim.

I've never seen that Marlins cap before.  If they insist on black, then that's the way to do it.  Very nice.  The blue could use a little green in it though.

I posted this on the New Era Cap Talk forums yesterday, but I'll post it here as well because it's relevant.

Hat Club in Arden Fair Mall in Sacramento got the Giants and A's ST patched versions in today. I picked up a Giants one, and have a few observations.

These things run absolutely ENORMOUS!!!!! I'm a 7 5/8 normally, but all the hats in my size were like buckets and I was absolutely swimming in them. I picked up a 7 1/2, but was pretty close to bumping down to a 7 3/8. That's how ridiculously big they are. Might wanna be aware of that, so heads up.

The league patch on the side of the cap is a nice subtle touch. It's basically invisible from any distance other than right up close, but it's still a pretty nice touch IMO.

The "Spring Training Lining" is probably the most shameless cash grab I've ever seen. It adds absolutely nothing to the cap, and actually makes it a touch warmer than even the regular AC on fields IMO. All this talk about "performance" and "cool base" material or whatever is basically irrelevant because of that dumb lining. That's a pretty counterintuitive edition to hats that will be worn exclusively in AZ and FL.

The patch is pretty meh also, and most of them were pretty badly crooked.

This is probably going to be my last DE purchase, at least for awhile. Even with all the gimmicks like the "Spring Training Lining" and the new league stamp, it still doesn't cover up the fact that the quality on the DE's absolutely pales in comparison to the regular AC on field caps.

Lose the fish icon and it's a winner.

The more I look at it the more I like it. I have to agree about the fish, it would look spectacular without it. Neon, South Beach, it looks way more Miami than the regular logo...

Now that a full year has passed along, what does everybody think of the addition of Kasota Gold to the Twins' home jerseys?

In a vacuum, they look really good.

In reality, they don't match the rest of the set.  They made the home cap an alternate cap.  They would have been better served just going with what they did with the wordmark and putting it on the darker pinstripes of the throwback home, maybe in the throwback cream, maybe not.  This would have fit the look and feel of Target Field without muddying the cap or adding a color that doesn't go anywhere else.  I wouldn't even mind the addition of gold to the set either.  The Minnesota All-Star jerseys had a really good-looking color scheme.  I just think it was executed poorly.

Are they made in China or USA?

The problem is they can't decide if they want to use it or not, so they just stuck their pinky toe in the water instead of diving in.  When you compromise, you lose.  It's like you can't decide if you want a beautiful thin asian woman or a big-bootied sassy latina so you get yourself some average-looking mixed broad because she has a little of everything... but none of what either of the full-blooded ones would give you.

If they used more gold on the home (make the outline thicker at least) and added it to the road, I think it'd look good.  As it is, it looks like someone just made a mistake on the home.

I still hate it. Logo sucks and is way too big on the hat, the yellow is completely out of place and teal needs to be emphasized more. Number font sucks too.

I will continue to hate the overall look as long as they continue the overuse and emphasis of black.  That blue fashion jersey that we have seen should replace all the black jerseys, and there should be a blue hat instead of black, and the orange hat should be brought back as well.

Holy crap.  How didn't I realize that?  We've been criticizing the Padres for barely dipping their toes in new water, Milwaukee for following suit, even the Diamondbacks for doing the same with soapy minty green (which they claim is teal).  The Twins were the ones all these teams are copying.  They did it a year earlier.

As for the Marlins, fans on this board were worrying for years before this rebrand that they would possibly run with orange.  I can't forget the argument, and I see it every time I look at them.  They should be accentuating teal and pink.  When they revealed, they even had a wide array of uniforms, but they narrowed it down to orange and black, the black that people had been crying about them focusing more and more on through their Florida years.  I mean, they can try to emulate the 'Phins and 'Canes, but if so, they really should just go with that color scheme.  I've become used to it.  It's not offensive to me.  But I can't help but think whenever I see it that it can be better.
