Too bad the Browns haven't brought back the striped socks as well.  The uniform change would have been a good time to do it (would've also allowed three sock options and thus even more uni combinations).

The Browns don't need more uni combinations. The Browns simply need unis that don't suck.

Yeah man, sorry but I'm pretty sure your mind has mixed something up. The Marlins blue jersey is a fashion jersey sold at the team store and has never been official. It definitely was not a part of the 2011 unveiling.

He Mandela effected I guess.

The Colorado Rockies have recently filed to trademark this logo, which has been on their batting practice jerseys

I've always wanted the team to make that their primary cap logo.

It feels completely unbalanced for a cap insignia.  It seems more than twice as wide as it is tall, and is therefore going to be either short and hard to see/read or so wide that it wraps around and you can't see it all from most angles.

I've always felt it worked on BP/fashion caps...

It certainly beats the "CR."

Why are the mountains sometimes black and sometimes purple?

Anyways, it's a nice logo but definitely reads like a secondary-type of logo that should only be on BP stuff, spring stuff, fashion stuff, on the end of the aisles in the ballpark. As simple and borderline boring as the CR is there's no way the mountain logo should be the primary or cap logo. If it was it would just read like a minor league team logo.

I hate to ask a silly question, but what exactly does this mean?

This image has been part of the Rockies' logo since the team began; and it by itself has been used on jerseys for some time.  I thought that this means that this logo would have been trademarked long ago.

Indeed, isn't every pro sports team logo a trademark?

^ Dumb. The Pirates regular hat is one of the best in baseball. Why they feel they need to mess with it I'll never understand. Hey maybe add red again, you goons.

If I was in charge of a Rockies rebrand I'd keep the primary logo, but the CR lettermark and the wordmarks need updating. Mountains are a great and simple visual identifier and their font is just too thin, too whimpy. Not at all fitting for a team named after mountains. Also, their home uniforms are black and silver and you have to be 6 inches away to tell the pinstripes are purple. They look black from any distance at all so they're basically wearing White Sox uniforms. They have to emphasize purple. I'd create a new C lettermark for the caps because I don't like when teams use both initials on a hat and I generally don't like when teams who don't have a history of it use pictograms on hats. (Indians, Blue Jays, Orioles are exceptions). The Rockies need an update badly. The mountains on the hats aren't the direction I'd go.

According to their Twitter, it's the Pirates' photo day. Check out which hat they're wearing.

I don't know if this means anything or not, but it's interesting.

That hat would have been a better fit with last years spring training jerseys, not the new ones in 2016. The previous style had "Pirates" in that exact style. The 2016 jerseys are

basically replicas of the black alternate jersey. I would have liked the Pirates to have brought back the sharp gold spring training jersey of a few years back with the black "P" on the left chest.

I would have thought so.  Maybe they never used the mountain/ball by itself before?

Yet another case of the ST sets having mismatched logos. It's like if the caps and jerseys were designed by separate people without consulting with the other designers and then suddenly the players take the field with caps and jerseys that don't match and everyone just goes "oh crap, my bad." There's like 20 of these problems all throughout the ST sets.

That Rockies trademark (and their new BP cap in general) gives me the sinking feeling that they may be considering ditching purple altogether. They seem to want to be the at-altitude/stoned version of the White Sox, so this move actually makes sense in Rockies logic.

It wouldn't make too much sense. I don't remember seeing any black only Rockies merchandise but I do see a lot of purple stuff especially caps...

I feel like the purple is actually being emphasized more. Remember the all purple jersey had been shelved for years and was just recently brought back. And didn't they have a Purple Mondays gimmick going on last year or the last two years?

ummm this is real ignorant of you. you shouldnt talk about stuff you dont know, and you dont know purple.

Somebody took the time to create an account to personify a color. What a world.

Plus the batting helmets are still purple.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.
