MLB 2016 Changes

Agreed. Your argument for change isn't very strong if you say you can go back to the original if you don't like the changes. Royals have one of the best looks in all of baseball.

Also would love the Astros to update their look. The orange and blue is definitely the way to go for them but the current look is so bland.

Then maybe something like Royal-powder-Royal piping on the sleeves and pants would work?

Royal-white-royal would give them an '80s feel, which is a good thing for the Royals.

Except Milwaukee

And the Giants and the Twins.

Right, none of them are royal though ! KC should have first dibs on gold, a king´s crown usually have gold in it or made of it.

I think the Royals realize a king's crown is gold. Their logo isn't that complicated. ;)

I do not understand why the royals home jerseys do not have a gold outline on the front script (and perhaps on name and number) the the MLB batter logo on the neck is blue white gold, and it would set them apart from the Dodgers .

I would argue because it's not necessary. Gold is used sparingly, and not every team color needs to be on the jersey. The Royals have a great look that doesn't need to be messed with.

They may look similar to the Dodgers, but they're not identical. Besides, the Dodgers uniform isn't a bad template to borrow from. Many teams in baseball have similar looks to one another. For the Royals, less is more.

Also, purple is a color long associated with royalty. Where is the Royals' purple alt?

Yeah, the only change I would make for the Royals is getting rid of the drop shadow in their logo. It really isn't needed at all.

Agreed, and surprised this didn't happen back in 2006 when the black jerseys were removed. I feel like it's an oversight they simply forgot about.

I'm glad the Royals have been a good team for the past couple seasons now. I feel like it's going to make management less likely to do any further "experiments" with their uniforms. (Same applies to the Blue Jays, really).

And it's such an easy fix, all they have to do is take this logo:

And put the current "KC" monogram on it, instead of the "R".

I've always thought that the Royals should outline their wordmark and cap logo in gold. It'd be subtle yet separate them from the Dodgers nicely. I've always found KC's look to be pretty boring, and that fairly small change would help to fix that.

Don't the WS winners do this now on their opening day jerseys? I seem to recall the Red Sox and Giants doing it. It didn't look very good, if only because I don't think gold contrasts very well against white.

There are already several subtle differentials from the Dodgers: thicker jersey numbers, different hues of blue, sleeve stripes, and obviously monograms and word marks. I think the hue of gold they would use would matter a bunch: if it's dark enough to show up well against white, yeah, it may not be that big a deal. But I just don't think it's necessary. If it could work anywhere, perhaps it could replace the white outlines on the road uniform?

That would nearly look like the A's road hat. Not sure it would be an upgrade.

I think triple piping like they had in the '80s would go a long way to set them off from the Dodgers. I forever associate the Royals with speed and stealing and all that Whiteyball stuff, and something about three stripes like that just makes them seem faster. (Adidas got to me.) Also, road uniforms that have a touch of powder blue to the grey without being full-on powder blue would look pretty cool. Overall, I don't want more powder blue or metallic gold than they already have.

I've always thought that the Royals should try to differentiate from the Dodgers, but now that I really think about it, there's no change that I can think of that would actually be an improvement for them. I'd rather they just leave their look as is.

I agree. The White Sox have a look kind of similar to the Yankees, and I think it's fine. The Royals look a bit like the Dodgers, but it's fine. I've never really had a problem with similar-looking teams in baseball. Nothing wrong with being unique, but on the other hand, you don't want to stray too far into bizarre territory.

Cubs wearing the good-looking road grays (not the :censored:ty block "CUBS" alt).

But Joe Maddon is looking cozy in his stocking cap. <_<

Seriously, you're the manager of a big-league club (in the postseason, no less). Dress like a manager instead of a sixth-grader on a snow day.

I am not accustomed to seeing this uniform. I don't understand why they would need to wear anything else on the road. I like it.
