The Rockies have used kiss cut name and number for a long time.  I had a jersey lettered by the team store at Coors Field back in 2006 or 7 and they were kiss cut even back then.

Well I think this is partially true. I have multiple game used jerseys:

- Juan Nicasio Memorial Day Road 2013

- Juan Nicasio Memorial Day Purple 2014

- Aaron Cook Road 2010

- Stu Cole Throwback Road (worn against the Mets at home in 2013)

as well as the EY above, that is the only one that was kiss cut all were from the Rockies or other reputable sources and all had MLB authentication holograms as game used or game issued.

I also own multiple retail authentics from Majestic that were NOT kiss cut.

Despite all this I have multiple retail authentics I had customized by the Rockies Official customizer that were all done kiss cut. That combined with your jersey makes me think that any jerseys (prior to this season) sourced from Majestic (Retail authentics, roster players, special jerseys, etc) were NOT kiss cut while any jerseys not from majestic (Customized retail authentics, mid season call ups, replacement jerseys etc) were kiss cut.

It's probably a lot cheaper and quicker to produce than the standard embroidered batterman. I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see the next big switch be Diamond Era caps with the chroma flex style logos similar to those NFL caps from a few years ago.

cheaper and quicker to produce , yes <_<.  But the prices has gone up on the jerseys, and the plastic logo looks terrible.

I actually think i will write a email to Majestic and tell them how I about feel about this.

I am sure it will make a difference

Perhaps the mesh panels and butt makes sense, but the plastic batterman logo surely does not ! There is no gain from it. I really wonder why they made that change

Honestly I think it has a lot to do with separating their product from counterfeits. I think this is a big reason we have seen chromaflex patches, flawire, kiss cut numbers and mesh numbers in various sports. Counterfeiters to this point have not been able to successfully reproduce chroma flex patches and I'm sure Majestic is aware of that. I have also never seen kiss cut numbers on a fake jersey even though Nike has been doing it on elite jerseys since they took over. Majestic has tried this in the past with jock tag holograms. Here is a comparison of two counterfeit embroidered patches vs their legit chroma flex counterparts.

Is there a reason pinstripes can't just be added to those panels? Is it a material issue?

I saw the Flex Base at the Astros Team Store last month.  The best way to describe the mesh panel is that it is nearly identical to the mesh panels on current Nike football jerseys.  It's not really conducive to having the pinstripes sewn in.  I assume the Yankees are still using jerseys with the pinstripes sewn in, and not sublimated.  It's their signature.

@kcchiefsfan yeah maybe, but people who buy fake jerseys don´t care as much as we do. so i don´t think it will make a difference.

It's not about whether fans care about authenticity when buying fakes.  Fakes take money away from Majestic.  If they have another layer of authenticity to weed out the fakes, it helps the feds catch them.

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!
