The Arizona Republic is reporting that the old batting practice snake head logo is making a comeback with modernized colors.

I always find the term "modernized colors" odd. To me, colors are timeless. It's how they are implemented on an overall design that can look dated.

That said, I always liked that old batting practice logo and I'm glad it's going to be coming back. Seems the recent MLB trend has been to bring back older looks (Orioles, Blue Jays, Astros, etc.) I'm fine with the D'Backs on that bandwagon.

Worked closely with their players. I guess it will suck then...

Yep. I also laughed at them consulting the "top uniform experts in the world." What the hell does that even mean? Is there a college for Uniformology at Oxford that we don't know about? How can I become a uniform expert?

Start cranking out those MSPaint designs in the Concepts forum. 15 a week for 8 weeks and you'll get your certificate and/or permaban.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

Based on past history, that's a unfortunately a good assumption. The standard white and gray versions of MLB uniforms today (no, not the softball / BP tops) look the best they have since the 1969-71 era. I hope the Diamondbacks don't do something stupid and start a trend toward general ugliness in MLB.

Weird. Looks nothing like anything associated with the team. That being said, if it were a dark chocolate and gold (as it looks), I'd be happy to see it.

Why! It makes a lot more sense to have more fan input then it would be to have player input. They aren't recruits.

The fans are the ones that are going to be buying the new stuff. I'm worried it's just going to be something that is trendy and falls in line with something similar to that of a college football uniform cycle.

Oh God, they consulted with Paul Goldschmidt? He's the most boring white bread and room temperature water guy there could possibly be. If that's the case, I half expect the jerseys to feature a straight across single layered wordmark helvetica.

Pretty sure the chair is navy, just like the table cloth and the logoed backdrop.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Well, I assume in this instance it means updating the color scheme of the logo to the future/current colors.

The fact that they're going with a white S and yellow D actually makes me really excited for this update. With the intriguing fauxback talk, even though it's a pittance now, I think they're stepping in the right direction. It's just very strange that with their past use or brown, orange, and yellow, yellow is the color they chose to bring back. I guess it fits better with the navy they seem to want to stick with.

This couldn't be more welcomed as I think the D-Backs have MLB's worst uniform set. In my opinion, the Friday black jersey and cap are the only things worth keeping. I hope they stress the A logo more and drop the D snake.

Well. . . continue that thought.

Hooray snakeskin design

This scares me. I'm starting to feel like we may end up seeing a full time version of this, which would be AWFUL.

These hints are killing me!

I don't see any of this being anything special. It seems like both teams can't decide if they want to commit to a full rebrand or not so what we will end up with are half assed "updates"
