Forget yellow accents. I wish the Padres would go full "Bad News bears" yellow. Why won't a pro team do that. own yellow.

Maybe it's a hard color to pull off? I know in the MLB, I don't like the way the A's and Pirates use yellow, because it just doesn't contrast very well against either white or gray.

These hints are killing me!

I don't see any of this being anything special. It seems like both teams can't decide if they want to commit to a full rebrand or not so what we will end up with are half assed "updates"

More or less. You'll see it with San Diego, but with Arizona you'll wonder why.

So Arizona is going to screw around with a half assed updated identity that supposed to excite the youth, be what the players like, and try to please everyone?

Sounds like its just going to leave fans dejected and mad.

I personally LOVE how the A's use yellow. Their whites and greys(sans cap for road) are one of my favourite in the AL and across baseball. Pirates I do like, but know they can be better.

Wha about the away unis though? So the homes have a little yellow. But the alt and digi are the same?

Mentioned it before. Roads are the same, as with the blue alt. Digicamo has a new digicamo. Home has yellow added and is different than current home. Fauxback is what everyone wants.
So...a brown and yellow version of the new navy and yellow home? I'll take it, even though I'd still much prefer a brown and yellow (excuse me, athletic good) full-on change.

Okay, so let me get this straight. The Padres are only tweaking their home and digicamo jersey, adding a fauxback, but their blue alt and road jersey will remain unchanged. How many hats will the Padres be wearing? The D-Backs are getting a full rebrand as we know and the Twins will be adding a red alternate jersey next season. Who else will be getting new uniforms or adding an alternate for the 2016 season? Is there anything else on the list or is that it? Any news about the Tampa Bay Rays adding more Columbia blue?

For me, I would much prefer if the A's reversed their trim color: use yellow numbers with green trim. Green contrasts much better against white. The way it's done now, the yellow trim practically disappears against the white. It's the same issue with the Pirates: yellow numbers with black trim would work much better.

From what I understand:

Padres home: largely the same, but with yellow piping added

Padres road: unchanged

Padres alt: unchanged

Padres camo: new pattern

D'backs: not a full rebrand, but sounds more like a blending of their original look and their current look

Okay. I'm guessing the battleship grey will appear on the new Padres camo jersey. I bet the D-Backs home jersey will have the "A" logo on the left chest, but I hope it's not a pinstripe uniform. The blending of their original look and current makes me wonder if they will bring back the turquoise to their color scheme or worst of all bring back the pinstripes. I can't wait til December 3 when they unveil them. I will have my barf bucket ready just in case, like I needed when I saw the 2012 Marlins uniforms unveiled, almost 4 years ago to this day. I hope those will be the only rebrands in mlb for 2016. Thanks for the info.

Padres you have correct. Homes are the only thing with the new yellow.

Dbacks. . . that's a bit more tricky. Logo-wise you're right. Old logo and current logos in the new "updated" color scheme. Uniforms. . . big changes.

I know we're absolutely grilling you for information here (Thank you, BTW), but is Arizona at least ditching the awful D Backs script?

No, it's gonna be on 3 uniforms.

Aaaaand there goes any sense of excitement I had about these tweaks.

Yeah same here. That's terrible news because that D•Backs script they use is HORRENDOUS.

To tell you the truth, the more I hear about this rebrand, the worse it sounds.

I will say that if the Padres were going to go to the trouble of adding yellow, they should have included it on the road and alt somewhere. That road is one of the most bland unis in the league. Happy about the fauxback though!

Two questions I have for Go Nordiques, (and thanks for all the hints and info. This is always a fun time of year to find out what teams will do with their branding:) Especially since S.D. and Arizona are teams that I like.

1. Does the Padres' home script stay the same?

2. Do the Home and Fauxback have the same font?

Thanks! Any info is appreciated:)

I'm still wondering myself. I keep looking at the flat art and I am wondering at how it will look in real life.

Shamrocks Q's:

1. No

2. The font is the same throughout the uniforms, all of them. Current font.

I presume the font meaning the fonts of the jersey and number? So the "Padres" home script will change? And will the fauxbacks sport these very same fonts?

And the yellow "D" - home hat only? Or will the fauxbacks have a similar yellow "D" only as well?

Not just keeping, but expanding the use of that atrocious "D-backs" script? Yeah, we're done here. This ain't gonna be pretty.

Where did you hear about the twins?

Sorry, I'm on an iPad

Larry, yes. The home uniform is not the current home just with yellow added. It very similar to other ones.

Faux backs will have the same current font but in retro colors.

Yellow 'D' on the home cap. Faux back will fit the color scheme of that look.

Sodboy, I didn't want to compare the dbacks to the clippers, since the clippers are far worse, but these uniforms are unique. I'm not sure what they will look like in real life. The art I've seen is flat, it's either gonna translate very well, subtle yet modern or horrible mess.

Sorry to keep asking, and I appreciate the info. But "not current home with just yellow added" and "very similar to other ones" is two separate clues, right? So if I read that correctly we have a white uniform with yellow piping and if not like the current home fonts, do we have an "SD" on the left side?

The yellow D with a white S on a blue cap doesn't seem like it will work too well. I guess I'll have to see it in person before I make that judgement but I'm not picturing a very good looking design with those colors.

The fauxbacks is pretty clear - brown and yellow lettering similar to what they had in 2015 on white, and I'm assuming the cap will be brown with a yellow SD. That sounds like the clear winner of the set.
