^Even with the consistency, that's the worst uniform set in baseball.

I'm guessing your either hate brown or are joking. There are plenty of worst looks in baseball.

No. I hope they go to brown and yellow, but that looks like a high school team with a decent uniform budget. SD on an alternate is bad. SD on the road is really bad. SD at home is horrendous. SD on all three is laughable. Teams need to stop truncating their identity to show an element which already shows up on the hat. Yes, the Tigers and Yankees are grandfathered, but it's bad when the Nationals and Padres do it. It's bad when the Royals, Pirates and Giants do it on their alternates. The A's using the hat logo on alternates is worse than their scripts, but it's made passable by the historical precedent.

The Padres have a pretty good "Padres" script now. They need to keep that on the brown alternate and put it on the home jerseys. They have a decent "San Diego" script which matches that, outside of the larger letters on the end. That script needs to appear on the road jersey.

Oh, and the brown jersey needs a white outline. It didn't make the previous green A's jersey worse, and it wouldn't make that one worse. The only element of their brand they knocked out of the park was their brown jersey.

I love the new brown alt and wanted to get one but let me tell you I won't be buying it not knowing what will happen in 2017...

That seems like an odd choice, considering that sales will determine what will happen. If you really love the brown alt you ought to buy two.

Yeah but that's an expensive vote.

I'd gladly spend $90 to convince the Brewers to finally adopt a jersey I love. Hell, I'd gladly spend $180 and buy two.

its definitely a better way to do the "bell" shaped panel (aesthetically)... but it's not at all bell-shaped, which means it's another half-@$$ job by the padres.. it's in the middle of the 2 more acceptable options (full front panel/true bell-shaped panel)... oh well

also, based on the texture of the material in the Diamondbacks' teaser... anyone think this has a shot at being the result?

Huh. For as much as I hated the mockup earlier in the thread, this color of turquoise looks a lot better. I really like it. I still prefer purple being the old color brought back, but this looks nice.

Okay, final mockup. People are asking and trying to go over what the Padres will have. From what I can see, this is the Padres' set for this coming year...

I'd earlier wondered if I was being too cynical about them dropping the piping from their home pants so that they could use them with the browns instead of carrying extra pants, and also them moving to navy camo so they don't have to have more different caps. But the "battleship gray" pants being worn with the navy camos shows me that I had nothing to worry about.

Also, these new uniforms, now that I've seen them, have created a great inconsistency with sleeve piping, and just after I realized that it WAS consistent between jerseys up to now.

6 uniforms. And only two really have any cohesion with each other (Away and ALT 1).

Is ALT 1 for home? Road? Both?

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

Alt 1 is just for the road now, so it needs gray pants.

For 2016, the Padres’ pre-exisiting blue alternate jersey and road gray remain part of their repertoire. Blue will move to a road-only alternate. Both jerseys will have the All-Star Game logo patch on the left sleeve.

I think that also means Alts 1 and 2 should switch designations, but that's just a personal preference.

Wait, what the :censored:? Somehow I missed this horrible element. They left the stripes off the home pants so they wouldn't need a second pair of pants to wear once a week? So the "home" jersey is mismatched from the blank pants, as the jersey relies on double piping to make up for any interesting design elements they left off in favor of putting SD on the chest?

I take back my "high school teams with a decent budget" comment. The Padres are dressed like a teenage travel baseball team.

Honestly, even with the Padres acknowledging the popularity of brown/yellow and stating they're rebranding next year, we all know they're likely to roll out with another recolor featuring navy with forest green "for the palm trees" and orange "for the sunsets over the Pacific." This is the Padres. Believe they're going to mess it up in the worst way until they stop stepping on a rake at every turn.

Have I been the only one to notice that the blue camos have navy side panels?

Could be a harbinger of the future for Majestic. Majestic unveiled the COOLBASE gussets in the WBC. Maybe they are unveiling full side panels as a future design option.

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!

Like all of the jerseys the padres have worn since 1984, it's not terrible, but it's disappointing and bland. Blue and yellow is an all right color scheme, but since it's only going to be worn for one year it only adds to the visual connfusion of the Padres history. Truly mix and match, brown and yellow, brown and orange, blue and orange and then blue and yellow, hopefully we'll come full circle and they will go back to brown and yellow.Of the previous set (which I actually didn't completely dislike, if the Padres were dead set on being as boring as possible) I thought that the home was the weak point, since I like both the gray and especially the navy alt (love the double piping). If they wanted to make it a one year transition thing, they should have just flipped the colors on the navy alt, instead of adding yet another color. Or they could have just changed the white outline on the gray to yellow

The design of the white itself is bad. Ditching the double piping for the Nationals template is a major mistake, either make it classic outlined piping or they should have kept their double piping to at least maintain some form of consistency, maybe making the piping on the edge yellow. The SD cap doesn't work, either make it single color or connect the S and D completely, it was clearly designed to be single color and with no outlines, this set features it being both double colored and outlined.

The new script is good but annoying, what was the point of making it PadreS when the San Diego script doesn't feature that. The brown is welcome, though I'd prefer brown caps and no white.

Personally, I want the Padres to modernize the 1974 with the original brown caps set and call it a day. PCL-like Padres script, yellow or white SD on a brown cap. Sand away with a blocky San Diego script (the current one is fine). A few alts and you're good to go.

Just picked up a bit of interesting (and AWFUL) news from the New Era forum in regards to the D Backs new set

-There should be 3 new caps (not sure if this is including the new DE or not) and 2 of which will only be available Chinese made...
-The 2 that will be Chino may be very interesting and a first for a MLB team.

-Black and Sedona red should still be the primary cap colors. With a possible hit of a retro color in the cap logo.

I'm assuming they may be similar in design to the 2015 S&S caps.

I hope I'm wrong though.

According to dennis lin of the Union Tribune, brown has been getting very high praise by the fans and ownership plans on going fulltime with brown next season.

Where'd he say that?

He didn't exactly say that, but he tweeted that Mike Dee said "brown might be a more prominent color in 2017".

None of those DBacks teasers have shown any turquoise. I'm starting to get the feeling Arizona wussed out and dropped the turquoise at the last minute.

If I'm right, I hope @GoNordiques will let us know where the turquoise was going to be used so someone can do a mock-up of the original design.

I went to the Petco Park Store today and picked up both new caps and a replica brown alt jersey. Interesting aside, the new navy blue caps only come with the ASG patch on the side - I asked if they sold any without the patch and they said "no, they will be wearing the patch all year". Really?

Two questions:

1) Is the brown cap USA made?

2) Are you 6025 from the New Era forums?

Also, I ordered the new Padres home cap from the MLB online shop and the pictures of it are all sans patch. I wonder if it's going to show up with the ASG patch on the side. I hope not.

Yes and yes.

I too wonder if the blue cap from the mlb shop will have the patch. I'll just wait it out and see if it's just a supply thing and the clerk was misinformed. Not really sure I'll pick up the cap sans patch if it becomes available. Ah, who am I kidding?...

I reaaaalllllyyyyyy want them to sell a low crown version of the new home cap. I want it so bad. I love how blue/yellow look.

Our local junior high traveling team has pants that match their jerseys.
