pianoknight
FieldTurf is pretty much taken for granted these days, but in the late 90s it was unknown. Personal bit of pride since it was developed in part by native Nebraskans and the Huskers were the first pro or college team in the nation to install FieldTurf.Good read for anyone interested in the "story behind the story."http://www.omaha.com/huskers/chatelain-the-untold-story-behind-tom-osborne-and-nebraska-s/article_2aad9536-976f-577a-bc0e-d09233c5f26d.html 5th in NAT. ConcreteCharlie
Here's an action shot of the new turf from a game in 1999. Looks kind of bizarre. It looks like it shouldn't exist that far back. Kind of like the old turf looks bizarre and out of place in this 1960s photo
Gothamite
Based on the title, I thought this was going to be about childhood cancer. That's shaping up to be the real untold story behind artificial turf, unfortunately. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
