Pulv!
In these late weeks I've been working on a new concept for a football team based in my home city, Torino, in Italy. While working I've decided to start a concept about the whole Italian Football League. There will be renaming of teams and expansion of the league. I will be working on the teams but not on the overall league identity, also if a new logo is needed, as, maybe, it could be work for another moment. Just to compare, I will post how the league is now and how it should be in my opinion. The teams in order from the left are: Milano Seamen Bolzano Giants Bergamo Lions Milano Rhinos Giaguari (jaguars) Torino Parma Panthers Roma Grizzlies Aquile (eagles) Ferrara Ancona Dolphins Briganti (brigands) Napoli Bologna Warriors Lazio Marines So, I've expanded the league from the actual 12 members to 26 and I've changed the identity of almost every team (just the Elephants, Guelphs, Saints and Spartans are real existing teams, but not in the IFL). I've totally changed every name in English as it was a nonsense to have some in Italian and some others in English , of course keeping the italian city name. I've decided to skip also very nice uniforms, like Milano Rhinos ones, just because their identities were all wrong. To me a name has to make sense with the history and the tradition of a city, not just be cool. So it will be really important to explain you why I chose certain colors and logos. Critic will be very, very welcome! My Behance
Pulv!
The first team, as I've already posted it on another thread, will be Torino Bulls. Their identity is based on Torino coat of arms, a golden jumping bull on a blue shield. The alternate uniform is grey in order to remember the industrial past of the city. Virtus
nice work! I list some suggestions:Bergamo Patriots (known as la Città dei mille), I like Redshirts because it's unique but maybe Patriots is more direct as ideaBologna Towers Bolzano BrewersTrentino Eagles (Trento)R.Emilia HogsMantova Dukes to ParmaMilano VipersAbruzzo Bears (L'Aquila)Ancona DoricsNapoli Admirals or SunsTaranto Tritons Cagliari Islanders
hockeyny13
for the bulls id like to see the helmet logo a little bigger and maybe some tv numbers on top of the shoulder. other than that i can't get behind this identity i like it
Pulv!
I know now that I've explained very badly the meaning of the bull in the Torino Bulls post. Why is there a bull on a city shield? well, just because Torino in Italian sounds similar to 'little bull'. If someone wants more information you can check the thread which is called "home sweet home" and it's just about the Torino Bulls.Thank you Virtus for all the good ideas concerning team names, some of them are really good, but there will be plenty of time to have a new expansion and add teams based in Abruzzo, Trentino and so on or to have big cities with two teams. As you have pointed out very well, I'm trying to give special names to teams, not just similar to american ones.Emilia Warriors will be based in Parma, so the 'dukes' name stays in Mantova. jrcollis714
I like this work so far. The gears on the alternate are a clever touch! My only concern would be that football probably would never pass soccer (I sound like an American but I don't want to confuse you with multiple "footballs"). Anyway, the Serie A will always be more prominent in Italy. Favorites: Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees, New York Rangers, New York Knicks, Cam Newton ND Irish Least Favorites: New York Giants, New York Mets, Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Eagles, OBJ

That's why my concept here is just as real as a fantasy league, but maybe, with the years, football will gain more fans in Italy and an expansion could happen, but as you pointed out, Serie A would still be fans' favorite. Something similar to what happened to MLS in the States could happen in Italy with IFL. My Behance
Pulv!
Milano coat of arms is a red cross on a white shield, so, why not to call them Crusaders? During the middle ages it was a very important city and many historic places are still left as a reminder of its medieval splendor. Being not so far from Rome a lot of pilgrims passed through Milano to go visiting Rome and for sure also crusaders! My Behance

hockeyny13
tilt the pant strip so that it goes with the pants. the way you have it now means someone wearing it would have the stripe coming from the butt which is weird. Also I'm not sure about the shoulder swords i feel like you could work them in different they feel too forced upon the jersey.
Windell918
Great start! like both teams. Really like the way you're presenting them!
Pulv!
Here you have home and away with the right pants striping (not tilted it was working so badly!) and the alternate uniform. My Behance
Pulv!
Here you have Milano Snakes home uniform. The idea of the snake is taken from the symbol of the Sforza family , some very important people from the renaissance period. They were Milan rulers so a lot of brands have a logo which is made after the Sforzas' snake, important brands like Pirelli or Alfa Romeo. Pulv!
With all the sea stories that could be told for a city like Genoa you would have thought in something more "maritime". The griffin is a symbol of the city as the coat of arms bearer are namely griffins. Moreover, as Genoa is called "la superba" ("the superbe"), maybe a griffin would be more appropriate than a docker...then Genova Griffins should be. I'm pretty sure that some of you very keen on italian soccer teams could recognize that a griffin (a very ugly one in my opinion) is the animal on Genoa Football Club crest, so also between the city sport teams the name griffins could make sense. the color scheme is based on the city colors white, red and gold and on the blue of the sea. davidmiller5
Pulv,I find this series interesting, and I am looking forward to seeing the other cities you give teams.I haven't posted anything about this until now, but I think I finally will... the issue is the pants on a lot of teams. You consistently color the parts of the pants were pads go a different color than the rest of the pants. First of all, this is never done in football uniforms. Secondly, the pants in your template are shown with pads in them; the exterior of real football pants don't have that texture. Football pants usually have interior pockets where one inserts the pads, but the exterior doesn't have different pieces of fabric sewn over top of the pant leg. I hope this makes sense; in summary, getting rid of the different colored pant blocks will make the uniforms look more realistic.

Pulv!
Aosta is a small city in the Alps. It is famous for two things: the mighty Alps and its ancient roman ruins. I've chose to call the team the Steinbocks as these animals are the "kings" of the Alps. They are so agile and quick but yet so solid while climbing on rocks. As these animals are an endangered species the Italian government decided to create a park for them and it is located near Aosta. The color scheme would represent mountain rocks (grey) and the regional flag which is black and red. The third kit is made after the regional flag of Aosta valley. This flag is half black and half red with a silver dragon in the middle. instead of the dragon my choice was of the steinbock-on-the-ball logo, which I designed after typical wooden carvings.
