16-17 Soccer Kits

Gotta admit, I loved the 08-09 kit despite its grayness. Perhaps because when I first saw the photos I thought it was navy/slate blue and I chose to forever assume that for the subsequent two years.

See, those were extremely tasteful and well designed. They focused on one USA accent color (red plus the silver trim) rather than shoehorning in blue, too. The effect is overload on the new design.

My lack could work if they maybe just went all black with r/w/b trim on the neck and sleeves (similar to our away kit during the waldo era)

but the execution here is not good.

So I suppose Friday is the day for the new crest? All US Soccer accounts have blank avatars and this video:

ussoccer.com is also down, as well.

I still don't think it's an improvement. Looks like US Ski logo simplified.

It certainly could be better, and it is rather simple, but I'll take a sleek and simple logo over the tired and dated clip art logo any day. At the very least the stripes are the correct color, which is something that was absolutely inexcusable with the old logo IMO.

At least the logo is progressing somewhere I guess. Before 1998 thee logo was simply the US and ball logo and before that the team used the USSF logo that is on most of today's referee kits. To me the new logo reminds me of the disposable logos Nike makes for the Olympic teams every four years. And that's how long I think this logo will last.

Seems like most crests have something besides just letters.*

le coq for france, germanys eagle, englands lions.

US just needs to find a good way to put an eagle, like the US rugby logo

These are still my favorite US kits to date. Please, for the love of God Nike, bring these bad boys back.

I'd call it an improvement, but I do agree that it doesn't scream US SOCCER specifically... or even subtlely. It's too generic America, like it could exist on any piece of knockoff merch at the world's best-designed truck stop, right next to some full-print eagle t-shirts.

It would appear the club is trying to split the vote by offering multiple halved kit options. Seems odd that they would want to break with the half red-half blue tradition?
