Future of NFL "Color Rush"

I really love what the Saints, Patriots, Broncos, Steelers, even Browns have done here. New looks echoing old looks done in a different way. It's clear the Saints are the real big winner, but I think the others deserved a mention. Speaking of the Saints, am I the only one that thinks of the White Ranger when looking at their uniforms? I love the look, but I just thought it was funny that my mind went there immediately.

Here are real shots of the Chargers uniforms. I'd say these are one of the best this year. Right up there with Denver, New Orleans, NYG, and Dallas.

Also, Bills uniforms are the same but have transitioned over to VU template. Interesting after seeing teams like the Seahawks in the Elite 51, I just assumed they'd reuse what they had.

Lastly, actual shots of Seattle. My eyes hurt.

The white horn does kind of stick out a bit, with no white anywhere else on the uniform.

Vikings should've taken a page from the Chargers and went with yellow face masks.  Really sell the whole "East Carolina" thing

These are really a mixed bag for me. I wish more teams would have utilized throwback logos. The Pats would've looked pretty good with Pat the Patriot on the helmet, for example.

Swap that center stripe to yellow (And I guess the mask to black), and that's EXACTLY what the Steelers should be wearing. If there's one NFL team that could pull off the matte helmet look and not have it look out of place or obtrusive, it's the steelers.

That's a bit more of a satin finish (which would work, too), but I couldn't find a picture without the yellow mask that was a true matte finish.

There must be a story about why they sport the logo on the right side only ....?

Huh, anyone else notice how the Bucs have inexplicably removed the pewter slashes (adapted from their usual orange slashes) that were present on last year's set? Might be because they just don't work as well with the new VU template.

I was looking at that last night as well. Thought maybe it was just on the Icon level jersey but looks like it's all together. Weird. Speaking of the Vaper Untouchable Template, I know we heard it would be available to more players this year, looks like with the release of Color Rush it's pretty much all the teams. The only two I've noticed that didn't switch from the Elite 51 for this was the Seahawks and Cowboys.

I find it a little odd that teams like the Titans who were part of the 2015 Color Rush using their regular light blue jersey got a new version just on the Vapor Untouchable template for Color Rush, but I see this as a way for Nike to get the new template out there. It'll be interesting to see if they only were this template for Color Rush or anytime they were the light blue. Is this the end of the Vapor 51 templates run?

Bringing up the Seahawks, I think they absolutely should have taken this opportunity to switch to the Vapor Untouchable template. I don't see anything with their striping that would prohibit them from doing so. Looking at the two versions of the Color Rush jerseys released, while the quality of the Limited is better, the Icon actually looks more like what the players wear in the game. The horizontal chest strips are closer to the position they should be in reference to the NFL shield and have the correct sharp angle cut versus the more rounded cut the Limited has. Ever since Nike took over the NFL and released the new Seahawks jerseys, the Game and Limited have had this pretty glaring inconsistency to the Elite versions. It's frustrating to me as a Seahawks fan that the cheap version of this style actually looks more accurate than then more expensive Limited. If they switch the the VU this could be easily fixed.

Also, any word on if elites will hit the market? If these are more than just a 2016 thing, I'd hope to see the Elite version sooner than later.

The new Madden patch has all the Color Rush jerseys in and when you mix and match there's some real good permanent alt possibilities for the future. If I have time later I might post some screenshots of playing around with them

I might have to go pick up Madden then. I've not gotten it since the XBox 360 days.

That Seahawks uni looks SOOOO bad. I'm sure the joke's been made, but seriously who that's seen It's Always Sunny can not immediately see this:

I mean, God! Come on!

The jersey's not bad. It'd be a solid look with white or navy pants. But yeesh, the all green. Nah, man.

A question for any of the insiders we have around here;

Going forward, will the individual components of these uniforms be available for non-color rush games?  In other words could, for instance, the Raven wear those purple pants on the road with a white jersey?  Or could a team that otherwise has no alt jersey, like Washington, use that gold jersey as an in-season alt with non-gold pants?  Or are any of the uniform parts that have been strictly designed as "color rush" limited to those games only?

(as not an insider)... my guess is the pants are available but not the jerseys since there seems to be little to no rule about them. We've seen pants come out of nowhere in the past couple years from Carolina (black pants) and Baltimore (gold pants). Again. just a guess

Figured to get this in while the soccer games were in halftime. Here's a look at some potential full-time alts down the line with these jerseys. Some of these aren't perfect with striping or coloring on the pants and whatnot, but it gives off a good general idea

A great deal of those look incredible IMO and would make very nice alternates or even new primaries for a few teams. The Steelers and Saints look particularly good.

There is. I read that originally the Steelers were a pretty poor franchise. So they placed the Steelers logo on one side of the helmets as a cost cutting measure. As the years went one, the logo on the right side of the helmet only became a tradition.
