Future of NFL "Color Rush"

I never had trouble telling the Giants and Bills apart back then, and still don't in looking back. The helmets being so different really helped with that.

And as far as my objections, I didn't even have the Texans in mind regarding the Pats' stripes; my objections were based solely on the blatant line weight inconsistency.

And the Giants. And the Saints. And the Bengals since it's a different all white uniform than what they normally wear.

Other than the five teams listed above, the teams who are having to wear all white are having to do so because the color they picked for their Color Rush uniform clashes with the color of the home team's Color Rush uniform. Nike didn't design a second Color Rush for the teams, so they simply have to wear their normal white away uniform with white socks. The Packers, Raiders, Giants, Saints and Bengals chose white as their color for Color Rush, and therefore have the special edition white uniforms.

My point is the teams who have to wear their normal away uniforms but all white are teams with all white options already Jets, Cardinals, Browns, Texans, Rams, and Falcons. All im saying is if you force a team to wear all white and don't feel it is necessary to make a second color rush jersey for a team arrange it so teams who don't typically wear all white like the Patriots, 49ers, Steelers, Lions Etc do. Nothing really fun or special about those 6 teams wearing all white.

As bad as the Patriots gaffe was the Texans is arguably worse. Even if they had to use an existing template, simply use navy instead of red outlines on the pant stripe to make it look like the single stripe on the sleeve.

USC must drive you nuts then too. The pants stripe isn't suppose to mimick the shoulder stripe, mainly because nothing really can mimick that shoulder stripe.

So I just got my low grade "Legend" Color Rush jersey. Call me a fan. It's honestly better quality than I was expecting. The material is thicker and nicer than I thought (was expecting some super cheap and thin polyester) and yes everything is all sublimated. That's a win in my book. It's still a much lighter jersey and it's not going to stick to my back from the numbers. All of the proportions are right and it's built well. To me, at least, it's more comfortable as if I were wearing a normal shirt and not some heavy and hot jersey like the Game and Limited jerseys. This one fits a little smaller so I'd recommend a size up.

I feel like this is always brought up with the Falcons, but is that a gold outline around the sleeve logo?

 What about orange/white/orange?

It looks the same as before but you have to use the 2011 orange socks in the game, which are a different shade so it throws the look off. I always liked the Dolphins orange alternate and I would love to see them bring it back.

If I were the Dolphins organization, I'd feel like I had the best of both worlds. Get to use the 1966 throwbacks twice a year and a game in orange every year (unless their Thursday game is against the Broncos). I would prefer to see the orange jersey paired with the normal white pants, but if the only way to make that happen is with Color Rush, it makes sense from a merchandising perspective.

Yes or No?

I like it, but I think you would need a little more orange on the jersey to balance it out a little more.  I think the aqua jersey could look good with orange pants as well.

Not a gold outline.  Regular silver one, which has a tiny amount of gold tint to it.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Right, unless the pant stripe tapered to a point. But when they are so close (single navy vs red/navy/red) it shocks me that the designers or art directors don't refine to match the system. So while you can say a shoulder stripe is different than a pant stripe, I'd say it's a more well designed uniform as a whole when the stripes (helmet, jersey, pants, socks) have a cohesive and consistent look).

Bottom line is I wouldn't let my design students get away with doing this without a very solid and persuasive argument for why it was the better solution. I still have yet to hear one but am willing to listen.
