It would be nice if some of those "either Jack Morris is getting in or nobody is getting in" voters would get off their moral high horse and support Alan Trammell who has a far better case for the Hall than Morris.

People can go into the offseason thread to see my picks and what I think of each, but I have my own HOF as a side project where I induct three players in even years, two in odd years starting in 1936 and keeping in line with MLB's eligibility rules (for anyone curious the three inductees I had this year were Ken Griffey, John Smoltz and Frank Thomas, last year was just Pedro and Randy and '14 was Greg Maddux, Mike Mussina and Curt Schilling) and under my system Alan Trammell would have been inducted in 2002.

What that tells me is either myself or the HOF is extremely far off on Alan Trammell's standing in history and I don't think its me. Shortstops with over 2,000 hits and multiple deserving gold gloves to their name tend to get in pretty easily for me because go through the names of everyone else that's done that and you'll see my point.

So based off of your post in the Hot Stove thread, should I put your picks in for: Bonds, Clemens, Griffey, Mussina, Schilling, Bagwell, and Trammell?

Those aren't the seven names I would vote for, those are just simply the seven people eligible where I simply just simply cannot come up with any reason why I would say no to them. Under any standard these should be no brainer HOF members.

If I actually had a HOF vote, I'm not so sure I would go down the Bustey Olney route and just obtain indefinitely.

Part of the reason is PED's, part of the reason is an antiquated voting system and even more antiquated voters, but mostly it's because of the glut. Its gotten to the point where I have to say no to certain players who I think should be in, because the maximum number of players you can vote for is ten. So Jim Edmonds, McGwire, Nomar, Piazza, Sosa would all receive no votes from me if this was a real vote, even though I think all five are deserving of induction.

Until the Hall of Fame is ready to start having multiple classes of five plus members, which is probably not going to happen anytime soon, the glut is just going to keep growing. But when voters can't even put someone in who was top ten in ERA 10 times in his career, what do you expect to happen?

To follow up this point.

I'll be accepting ballots until 11:59 p.m. EST tonight. The results will be announced tomorrow around the same time the actual results are being announced.

The HoF show will be on from 3-7, with the big announcement coming at 6. The CCSLC results will be announced shortly afterwards.

Right now, though, I'll be annoucning the names of the players who would fall off of the CCSLC ballot. The number of ballots was such that just one vote kept a guy on the ballot, so Gary Sheffield and Jim Edmonds were saved by LMU and Shumway, respectively.

The players that will fall off of the ballot are as follows:

  • Nomar Garciaparra
  • Jason Kendall
  • Troy Glaus
  • Mike Hampton
  • Luis Castillo
  • Randy Winn
  • Garret Anderson
  • Mike Lowell
  • Billy Wagner
  • Mark Grudzielanek
  • Mike Sweeney
  • David Eckstein
  • Brad Ausmus

I knew Griffey was a lock (and he broke the percentage record with 99.3%), but it was great to hear that Piazza got in too.

And Bagwell and Raines! SO close. But hopefully their showing this year is an indication that they'll make it next year. Hoffman looks like he's eventually gonna make it, too.

Let it be known that I will NEVER set foot in Cooperstown until justice is served! Three :censored: people didn't vote for Griffey, and Bagwell was absolutely robbed by 5% of the voters! Trammell got screwed over as well, which pisses me off even further.

Nice to see Piazza get in. Too bad he had to wait four years because of all the steroid nonsense. For all we know, Griffey used as well, since they both had inflated HR numbers and "the look".

Kind of stunned Griffey got 99.3% of the vote, an all-time high, considering his pedestrian decade in Cincy.

Also, Griffey took the Cooperstown phone call from his kitchen, which is fitting as he's put on a good 50 lbs since his playing days.

there is always someone who doesn't vote for a hall of famer (like with Nolan Ryan).

So now for the big reveal... this year, the CCSLC voted in three members to the baseball hall of fame. They are:

Ken Griffey Jr. - 16/17 votes, 94%

Mike Piazza - 14/17 votes, 82%

Jeff Bagwell - 13/17 votes, 77%

Just missing were Bonds, Clemens, and Trammell, all who had 9 votes and 53%.

I'll be putting the spreadsheet on the OP again now.

THe writer that didn't vote for Griffey should have his vote revoked immediately. I'd love to hear the explanation for that one.

He was pretty much the size of a Winnebago when he was falling asleep in the clubhouse and missing at bats during that last stint with the M's. His dad kinda was too in his final days.
