American FlashBall Association: Houston Apollos FINAL Update (2/16)

Recommended Posts

AMERICAN FLASHBALL ASSOCIATION:

INTRO: Played as a fun game after spring football practices, Flashball is something all players are looking forward to every day between the months of February to May. It is a cross between touch football and ultimate Frisbee but is packed with non-stop action, and competitive arguing throughout the game between games with the team. I wanted to bring Flashball into the concept world on the boards because I really love playing the game and like the challenging idea of creating a conceptual league for it.

RULES/GUIDELINES: A 6 player game, it is played on a 40 yard field (goal line to goal line) in length and 25 yard width. The Touchdowns are 5 yards in length, so half the size of a normal end zone. The are two, ten minute halve with a non-stop play clock. There are 2 Refs, each patrolling a sideline. The scoring system is as follows, 2 points for a TD and 1 point for the conversion from the 5-yard line and 2 for the conversion from the 10. Each team gets 4 total downs to try and score a TD. There are also no handoffs, only passes. A player is declared down when a defender tags the opposing player with 2 hands (refs also watch for that). The only penalties in the game are a 5 yard penalty for offside/false starts, and 10 yards for pass interference.

SEASON PLAY: Once all logos are completed for the 16 team league, 8 team conferences, 4 divisions. The Athletic and Future Conferences will be the two conferences (names are set). Yes this will be a seasonal concept founded in 2016. The season is 24 games long, with a 4 teams from each conference making their respective playoffs. After 12 games there will also be an all star game, host cities will be revolving. The uniforms will be created on RaySox's soccer template, Im still undecided if there should be sponsors or not. The league is sponsored by under armour.

I think that I have laid out everything pretty solid! Ask any questions needed!

I'm looking forward to where this goes. I also love the small playing field. Perfect for arenas. Also, kudos for choosing Richmond as a location. ;)

Seattle United

Inaugural team in the AFA, Seattle United wanted to embrace the ocean and use Poseidons' Trident in their logo.

They also embraced the Navy and Green color scheme but also added a Seattle Blue to accent the colors. The uniforms are simple yet sleek and

convey the logo in an effective way with out copying it. The head hanchos of the team are, Owner: Dan Smiley, Coach: Grant Edson. The management think that United can compete for the very first Flash Cup...

I personally think that the back numbers are too big. Also I do think sponsors would add a little umph. However it is a nice design. the posiden thing is a nice touch

Change the font. Its far too generic.

It's a solid design. Your back numbers are too big, there's no way two of those 3's would fit.

For the font I realize its basic I may change it, but its the same font as the S in the logo so I wanted to keep it the same.

Tweaked the uniform from the comments made. Except kept the font, and going to keep it just because it ties into the logo. Added conference logo to shorts and added league logo to collar.

Wasn't trying to be rude about the font, sorry it came across that way.

Love the uniforms and color set. But make the numbers smaller and the nameplates a tad bigger. Also I don't mind the typeface on the front of the uniforms. It may be a generic typeface but it works.

As a Seattle sports fan, I think these would fit perfectly with the overall pro sports trend in the area, from the logo to the colors. Looking forward to seeing how well they play!

Houston Apollos:

Name Suggestion by JMTexan09! The Apollos are the second team to enter in the inaugural season of American FlashBall. The Logo, made by the owner himself, Bob Davison, features a rocket ship blasting off the moon with the word mark of the team underneath. The Uniforms were also created by Davsion but were voted on by the players and this was combination they liked! The jersey features what would be the fire from the rocket on the chest, and the shorts are meant to mimic the fire.

The red and the orange blend a little bit. Maybe a white border between the two would really make it pop. Also the team name is a little hard to read.
