New Subway Logo

Subway appears to have gotten a new logo. It's essentially the same logo from 2002-2014, but instead of being half white/yellow, it's just green. They also seem to have gotten rid of their famous slogan "Eat Fresh" and replaced it with "Founded on Fresh". The reason for the question mark in the title is that it seems Subway has not made an announcement of a new logo, and still has the old logo on their website.

Logopedia has it's Subway page updated: http://logos.wikia.com/wiki/Subway

The logo also makes in appearance in a recent Subway ad:

As others have said, it was kind of necessary to totally rebrand their product after the years and years of being associated with a pedophile.

I wonder if the logo will be recolored depending on the purpose? Being monochrome, could be easy to recolor it to black, white, any color necessary for whatever purpose.

Of course, I will always like the 90s logo.

Complete and total upgrade. No words can accurately describe how tired the old logo had become, and when you live in city where you literally can't walk two blocks without seeing one of the franchises, this tiredness is amplified 10 fold. The rebranding can't conclude fast enough. The current logo is as revolting as the smell emitting from the 20,000 Calgary franchises. Now if they could just get rid of their plastic meats and chemically spiked breads...

True say... Subway signage is as polluted as 7-Eleven's. Still think they should throw the font in the garbage &... ahem... think fresh.

Maybe their whole freshness campaign is an attempt to distance themselves from the old logo, which is now associated with the negative publicity of Jared's child pornography tribulations. A fresh start with a new logo, new slogan for them in that sence. Maybe they got tired of seeing their brand getting bombarded all over the media with 6 inch footlong jokes and Jared memes like the one above.

Their old logo I thought was perfectly fine. But if my assumption is true, I can kinda see why they've changed, even though I think the old logo was much better.

I can't imagine that's behind it - the change is so minor most people won't really notice it.

It's really amplified by the campaign currently running. It's really rather hipster-y with its "We were fresh before it was fresh to be fresh" tagline.

Doesn't look like they're completely abandoning the old yellow, green, and white logo, as NASCAR Driver Carl Edwards' 2016 Subway paint scheme was unveiled earlier today:

Still looks like they're trying to push the light-green though, as seen in the "newer" logo.

No words can describe? It's a color change. They didn't completely overhaul. I say this as someone who worked in signage, you aren't going to see many franchises upgrade their look for a while, especially when the change wasn't that drastic of a departure.

Look at Wendy's. They completely overhauled their identity at least two years ago and I still see more stores that still use the old branding than I do the new one.
