2020 Week 2 - Part II

Las Vegas

This is based off images we've already seen with the turf field, and some recent images of the grass field for tonight (looks to be the same exact field design). I'll update the field if need be.

Similar to their field in Oakland (just swapping the city names). The number font is the other difference from the Oakland days. Again, another team getting in on the custom number font trend (which I really think is a positive towards team identity).

Miami

No real changes for the unpainted Miami endzones version of the field over the past few years

MIA_2020%5E1.png

New York Jets

New endzone turf sewn in, as opposed to painted in from last year. I'd think the logo would look better in the left end of the endzone, then the wordmark, but then again, Jets do like being backwards.

NYJ_2020%5E1.png

Philadelphia

Only change is that the numbers weren't fully painted in. You can still see the stencil gaps. The Eagles have had stencil gaps in their numbers in the past, but not in recent years.

Pittsburgh

No real changes (Although, I did update their number font and midfield logo on my Steelers field template for accuracy)

PIT_2020%5E1.png

Seattle

No real changes from their normal early season field

SEA_2020%5E1.png

Tampa Bay

Only change was the shade of red (which is now darker with the logo and uniform changes this year)

TB_2020%5E1.png

Tennessee

No real changes

That's a full look at all of the teams fields for the 2020 season. There are a number of teams who change their field as college and MLS end (Off the top of my head, that's only Miami, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Seattle this year). There are also other teams who change their field designs to match throw back uniforms (Miami, and Atlanta last year). So we will see which teams change things up throughout the year. For the most part, these first two weeks is what we will see for most teams in 2020.

I made some minor updates to the Raiders field after last nights game:

  1. Thin outline around the 2-point lines
  2. The black lines on the 20's and 50 goes under the line, between the sideline
  3. Updates to some field numbers, for better accuracy (1, 3, 4, 5)
  4. Thicker outline around the Raiders midfield logo
  5. Adjusted spacing of the letters in "LAS VEGAS"

Quick question, where do you keep the highest quality versions of the fields?

I keep them on my hard drive (and my backup hard drive, don't want to lose 6 years of work when my computer finally eats it).

The full sized images are far too large to upload to any image hosting website, and we tried uploading them to the GUD servers once, but that filled the disk space rather quickly.

I get it. I asked because I know kodrinsky hosts the 4k versions of his NBA courts on flickr and was wondering if you did the same.

I can remember that hosting problem. All the fields I have made as also stored on a back up Hard Drive as well as 3 flash drives. It just feels good to sart up again on fields.

Jaguars 2020 Week 3

JAX_2020%5E2.png

Teal endzones tonight, with the wordmark outlined in black.

This is the first time in a long time that the Jaguars have had fully painted endzones (I can't say exactly when, but it's at least the 2014 season or earlier).

I wonder what goes into the decision of putting either the City or the Teams name into the endzones.

For the multi-use stadia the city name is often put in for cross use (i.e. Hard Rock stadium for the Dolphins and Hurricanes). I don't quite know the reason for full city names in other stadia, though I have to imagine it's likely due to the pride of locality over team name: for instance, the Eagles are synonymous with Philly, having been their team name since 1933, but the Jags have only existed since 1995, with a significant amount of people having more pride in the county name over the team name.

Baltimore went with black endzones to match the jerseys. Also, they only outlined the city/team name in white, and kept the text black (except for MO in Baltimore, which they painted purple).

Sticking with the Rams, here is their field from week 4:

And is it just me, or do images just not load anymore? I'm not getting any field images to load in this thread, so I just posted links today.

  • 2 weeks later...

Some changes from week 6:

The Jaguars and Vikings promoted voting on their fields. Some other teams did something similar, like the Buccaneers, on the sidelines, off the field.

Small changes that I won't post here:

The Colts removed the NFL logos from the 25 yard lines for this week.

The Eagles changed the grass mowing pattern on their field.
