On mlb shop it was possible to get all kind of versions of your team´s jersey, there were all kinds of authentic Royals  and Mets jerseys with world series patches, and also availible was Jerseys with World Champion patches. There were rare jerseys that saw limited time on the field, like the Giants Gold opening day jersey.

Tons of special jerseys.

Yes, you can order them at Majestic online store, but  their prizes are much higher than mlb shop and they never have the 25 or 30% off offers that mlb shop often did. And further more, Majestic online store does not ship international, so fans  in Europe and other parts of the world that play and like baseball now have no option for buying authentic jerseys.

Majestic is changing authentic jerseys for 2016, hence why all of the old ones were clearanced out on Majestic's website. (Seriously, there are some insane deals for the jerseys that are left. The Braves fauxback with a player or customized is down to $99).

I did see an Authentic category on the new Fanatics/MLB Shop website that says "Flex Base." So, it appears that Majestic is either completely relaunching the authentics with new fabric, or they renamed Cool Base for the authentic jerseys so they aren't confused for the Cool Base replica jerseys.

Hope 007 is right.

Furthermore, i find it hard to believe most of the sales of authentic jerseys took place at Majestic´s own online store, prices there are/were higher than mlb shop. I find it hard to believe that Majestic themselves think this is good idea,  surely they want to sell those jerseys at the offical mlb store

This is probably the best option for MLB.  While authentic jerseys may be a solid revenue draw, I would have to think thyre a small percentage of overall sales.  Fanatics will offer a wide range of offerings.

I for one have had no issues with Fanatics.  The have great deals and sales every so often, even sometimes free shipping.  I like it because they have a depot in Jacksonville, FL so for something that's quoted 3-5 business day delivery, I usually receive it in 1-2 business days.

Oh no, this is AWFUL.

The MLB online shop was literally the ONLY place to get some of the special event caps without having to pay through the nose in shipping fees. No chance that Fanatics is going to change their enormous and convoluted system to integrate that kind of specialized stock. Fanatics is basically like an online-only version of Lids, but much MUCH worse. Hat/jersey collectors just got boned pretty hard by this move.

Even though it's through Fanatics, I'm not sure they'll just carry whatever MLB gear Fanatics carries. Fanatics may simply be taking over the logistical side of things and running the existing MLB Shop warehouse. Also, for special events caps, you can generally get them from Hat Club or Lids (which is a risk when it comes to U.S. vs. Chinese made). Hat Club gets MOST of the special event and TBTC caps, and unless they were only made in China, they're almost always U.S. made.

I would say you'd have to give Fanatics a chance.  The may just be running the MLB shop for logistical purposes, but as its the official shop now they may still have the same/similar offerings as MLB shop has had in past seasons.

$126 US for a $89 replica jersey delivered in Canada. I just remembered why I always avoided Fanatics... Their shipping promotions never include Canada and their sales normally suck. I'll stick to US Lids locker rooms.

Several times I've loaded up my virtual Fanatics shopping cart only to bail on the entire purchase once I see the shipping rate to Canada.

I know, I always do before ending up buying the same stuff on Lids.com delivered for free to a border store...

From my experience, Fanatics is pretty crummy. I was so excited when I found a really nice pair of UGA Nike shorts priced maybe 15%-20% cheaper than most other places. Immediately added it to my cart and going through the payment process and on the last screen, the price jumped back up to full retail. Meanwhile, the listing page for the item still showed the discounted rate. I chatted with their online help and they wouldn't honor the price, even though that's what it was advertised for. They said it was an error. My thought is don't advertise it differently if you're not going to honor that price.
