They put Colorado on this and I had to do a double take. I'm all for it but the Monfort brothers would never stop that much money on him.

The Angels would need pitching in return, which the Rockies haven't has since ever.

That, and the Monforts are the cheaper than the female owner in Major League.

I doubt the Angels are entertaining Trout offers right now. I haven't seen any reports from insiders saying they are looking at trading him, just think pieces saying the Angels "could" trade him.

I didn't have real high expectations for this year anyways and injuries are making it worse.

I could see 2018 being when it starts to be the turn around. The Weaver and Wilson contracts are done after this season and Hamilton's is done after the next.

But if the Angels do trade or lose Trout wihout getting much back and with everything good old Arte has done for the team, I might have to see if the Angels are still something I want to support.

No, that was actually a serious question (And it wasn't directed at your comment, it was just a general statement). If they are gonna trade Trout, it's basically going to take an entire farm system (I mean, not literally an entire farm system, of course, but you're definitely not wrong about that) in return. What team has a farm system that's strong enough to get Trout who also is contending at the major league level? The only team that comes to mind is maybe the Dodgers, but they've kinda done that before to mostly disastrous results. It would also deplete their pitching to the point that they're basically what the Angels are now after Kershaw. The only thing that tops the insanity of the Angels even considering trading trout is the unfeasibility of it for the courting teams. It just doesn't make sense from ALL sides.

I think a better solution for the Angels is to take this season as a loss, wait for some of those big contracts to come off the books, deal the high priced dudes for whatever they can get (If they even can), and actually build up the farm system through the draft and smart signings. That's not exactly an uncommon move, and Trout is absolutely the kind of player you build a team around.

Great points. I guess I'm just thinking that Trout is likely going to be gone via free agency before the Angels can rebuild so why not take a look at what's out there? But you're probably right, there isn't a team out there that could make the kind of deal necessary to get Trout and still manage to stay competitive after trading for him.

I get that, but don't sweep the Bucs and Nats then go out and drop a deuce to the visiting Pads. ?

Not only that, but they lost two in a row for the first time this season, against the Padres no less. I guess it was one of day when the Padres was actually playing good, especially their bullpen in the second game of the double header.

Dude, the Cubs have the best record in baseball right now... I wouldn't hit that panic button yet.

No no, far from the panic button. Just somewhat vexed due to today's outcome.

I missed the bulk of the discussion, but...

:censored: the Angels. :censored: Arte Moreno. :censored: Jerry DiPoto. :censored: Tony Reagins. Those three have screwed over this franchise so hard. Arte for his meddling and Los Anglicizing the team. DiPoto and Reagins for the trades, signings, and drafting.

Sure, there's the bright spots. Mike Trout front and center. Kole Calhoun is actually pretty damn good... And... um... well... Yunel Escobar has had a nice start hitting (and leading the team in errors)... and... uh... Garret Richards! Oh, wait, no. Career will never really get off the ground... Andrew Heaney? Oh, wait, also injured right now... um... Tyler Skaggs is coming! (...back from Tommy John surgery)... Nick Tropeano is all right.

The pitching has been garbage with no attempts to fix it. When there have been bright spots (Matt Shoemaker and Hector Santiago), they've turned back into pumpkins pretty quick. Third base, left field, and catcher has been a revolving door of plugs, platoons and has-beens. The farm system is just a wasteland. It almost makes me yearn for the days when there was the ever-looming prospect of Brandon Wood coming up and finally making his mark. He never did and got thrown onto the same scrapheap of the Dallas McPhersons of the world, but hell, I wish there was even something like that to look forward to!

And the worst part? They've been almost halfway competitive enough to trick Arte and postgame-show-calling/pollyanna chunks of the fanbase into thinking that they're a few quick fixes from being a contender. And then we come to find out that those quick fixes amount to... what? Geovany Soto? Daniel Nava? Al :censored:ing Albequereque? And yet another good fielder/mediocre hitter Andrelton Simmons?

So yeah. Way to go guys. Thank you for wasting Mike Trout. Light up the :censored:ing Halo. I can't wait to watch Mickey :censored:ing Mantle play for the Yankees again.

(Damn it! Why did the Ducks have to lose and expose me to an extra month or two of this :censored: )

I'm not bothered by the Cubs losses, nor am I weeping with joy after every win.  I'm happily enjoying what I'm seeing, but until they validate their success with the proof of one title, I'll carry my shred of doubt in my pocket, as should you all.

Sorta random, but I just realized Adrian Beltre (should he stay healthy enough to do it) will likely get his 3,000th hit sometime in the middle or end of next season. Even as a guy who likes to track career milestones, that one slipped my radar. It seems like he only got #2,500 yesterday! So we could potentially have Ichiro this year, Beltre next year. That's awesome.

Oh, and he could possibly end up reaching 450+ HR's and 3,000+ hits for his career altogether. Of all the guys that have done it, it seems like he'd be the guy to do it with the least noise made (like I said, him being so close slipped my radar). He's just one of those guys that has showed up to work every day and got it done.

"league sources" claim that Trout wouldn't mind being moved to the Phillies to be closer to his family (and he grew up a fan.)  My thought is that this would have to happen as a FA after his contract is up, because a rebuilding team needs to acquire prospects, not trade them away.
